What's your favorite flavor?
If you can order any flavor shake, what would it be?
How does a coffee flavored milkshake sound? :bigears:

Thanks guys!
We are looking for new flavors to add to our menu.
So far, we have chocolate, vanilla and strawberry (made from fresh strawberries). We have added a creamsicle flavor and are wondering how a coffee flavor would go over with the coffee drinkers.

Mint chocolate is good, and coffee is definitely good. Back when I made them, I just used instant coffee for the coffee part. Works great. Dissolve the coffee into the milk and allow it to steep overnight, then make the shake. For the mint chocolate, get a bunch of fresh mint, wash it well, and cover it with milk and bring to a simmer, then let it cool for an hour and press the mint with a spoon to extract all the flavor (or use gloved hands) and then strain and make your usual chocolate or vanilla shake. Shave some chocolate on top and add a couple of mint leaves before serving.
Banana shake is good, just add a frozen banana to the chocolate or vanilla shake. Chocolate malt, vanilla caramel (the Cojita Mexican goat milk caramel is amazing!), and butterscotch is also really good.

Coffee is always good,us New Englanders enjoy ice or frozen coffee all year-round.
The wife is from R.I. and Newport Creamery is a big part of the state and they have several different flavors also.

I'll have you know that my drug store's soda jerk prepares the most delicious malted tonic beverage, and does so promptly and courteously. Why, just the other day after receiving a nice hot shave at the barber shop, I walked next door to the drug store and there was a negro sitting at the soda fountain. Did I tarry even a second to point out his mistake, showing him the clearly written sign "Whites Only" next to the door? Nay, I did not! However, this man was not dissuaded by my efforts, and remained firmly rooted to his stool, quite determined he was. I was forced to contact the local constabulary, and quite a brouhaha resulted, nearly a melee.

Not planning on using syrups. We do have iced coffee so I'm thinking, use that coffee add it to the ice cream and putting it in the milkshake machine :)
We are using Dunkin Doughnuts coffee, as it huge here in NH.

I wasn't suggesting you use syrups, I was using them as a reference given the volume of sales for those 2 flavor profiles.
Coffee sales have been growing at a double digit rate for years and I like your idea.
Another idea is to sprinkle coffee beans into the shakes. That way you could do vanilla and chocolate coffee shakes. :yum:

I didn't take it as you were suggesting...
We want to use fresh fruits. For the strawberry shakes, we actually puree strawberries and add to the vanilla ice cream.
Trust me, I know, you know the food trends and appreciate your input. If you can put your the ear to the ground on the flavor profiles while you are at a trade show, it would be great feedback.
Thanks Scott!

Ohhhh, gotcha. I misunderstood you.
The crushed beans are showing up in all types of sweets; most of them chocolate based sweets.
Food trends are tricky because they vary wildly based on demographics as you'd expect.
I like the fresh fruit angle though. People of most demographics will spend more for perceived quality and health benefit.
The big push now is GM free items. As usual we're 15 years behind Euro standards, where ironically, they are beginning to soften their stance on them as of late. :Jeff '79:
We'll have to chat soon about trends. Let me know if you guys want to knock around any ideas that I may be able to help with. :cert:

Those "nutribullet" gizmos that give you a "blast" of vitamins and nutrients are getting very popular right now.
You might offer these things as an alternative to milkshakes. Or, start your own trend by combining the nutrient "blasts" with the ice cream. Win-win.
