I like fireworks in the proper environment. On the 4th a few of the neighbors shot off some fireworks and had a good time. Nothing too crazy and everybody was done by 9 or so with the shows.

Last night a neighbor crossed the line with fireworks. They started at 8:30 and kept at it until after 10. We aren't talking little fire crackers but the big stuff. It sounded like a war zone around here. It was loud enough we had to turn the TV up to hear it over the commotion outside. The boom's were shaking our house. You could see the smoke clouds rolling into our yard and smell the gunpowder smell even in our house. They decided it was best to shoot off the fireworks in the front yard. All of our houses sit on about 2 acres of land so they had plenty of room with no trees to shoot of the fireworks in the back yard.

I wonder how our other neighbors feel about this show. It really was over the top and too much for a home show.

While they were busy with the fireworks, you should have taken the opportunity to steal some of their firewood. Quid pro quo.

I had a neighbor do that one year. It was 11pm and i had to say something to him. And he stopped. He was literally next door 100 feet or so. The problem i had though is i had an baby who was crying and couldn't sleep because of it.

I said something and he gladly stopped. The next night they went out right at dusk at 8:30 and wrapped up with what they had left and finished at a decent time. Now that my kids are older they're happy to sit out in the driveway and watch.

You're officially now that guy who yells at the kids to get off his lawn.

We had a block party in our neighborhood last night as there was quite an impressive fireworks show. I ambled home about 10 PM, everyone had a great time. The band was really good, female singer kinda sounded a little like Sheryl Crow.

Our local burg, like many, legislates morality. So, individuals shoot off fireworks in the city.....bad. City sponsors fireworks show with taxpayer money......good.

Lesson. Don't shoot fireworks.....the government hates competition.

Side note: I heard a few (illegal) fireworks going off the last couple of nights. Thankfully, we've had some rain so things are a bit wet and fire is not a danger. I wouldn't even consider complaining or calling the cops. Having a scared infant in the house might make me consider asking the shooters politely to quit or move farther way.

We used to have neighbors like that. Those ****ers would call the police at the drop of a hat. It was so bad, he and my next door neighbor had mutual restraining orders against each other. They even called the police on people on the next block. Thankfully, they got an inheritance of some sort and moved. Once they moved, crime in our neighborhood must have plummeted, because no one was calling in complaints anymore.

Apparently they were sick the week of kindergarten when they discussed getting along with others. And they also must have been sick the week of life where most people figure out the concept of "don't shit where you eat."

My cousin and I just discussed the same subject of neighbors.
We're blessed to have none.
I'm on 4 acres and he's on 90....:seasix:

Just doesn't appear to be a good fit, you may consider a different country. :island14:

Our shop is on 12 acres, in the county. I thought about building something and moving there, but, well, moving is a pain in the ass, plus now that those a-hole neighbors moved, I like ALL the neighbors on my block. In all the time I've lived here, I have only really had one run in with the city, over the dog catcher going house to house looking for illegal (read:unlicensed) pets.

I wrote to the ACLU, the US Dept. of Justice (I think, can't remember that far back now), and the Texas Attorney General, but no one seemed interested in my complaint.

I might also hit on his nanny and grab his grilling salt block on the way out.

Every Thursday night at 9:00 during summer at Baytowne in Sandestin. Close enough to my home I hear it. I've got used to it.

Understand about being once a year people celebrate with Fireworks, don't have a problem with it. Celebrate with everyone else on the 4th not the 5th. Two nights in a row sounding like Iraq will shake up anyones nerves.

Our new neighbors (who are f'n weird) shot off fireworks literally all F'n night. We went to bet around 1AM the mortars were still going off, woke up to pee about 4 Mortars still going off, the last ones I heard were sometime after sunrise

So start a twelve hour barrage of your own about half an hour after they go to bed. :hurray:

If you don't give 'em a taste of their own medicine, they won't never learn nothin'.

THREE nights of the year in our case. Had some ambitious revelers again this 4th.
