If you haven't read the book Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption, I strongly recommend it. It's an amazing story. Louis was an Olympic track star turned WWII bombardier. The bomber Louis was in crashed in the south pacific. He then drifted for months, fighting off sharks, starvation, and dehydration only to be captured by the Japanese. He was then subjected to brutal and repeated torture and beatings. His story is a prime example of the hardship our soldiers endured during WWII. After hearing his story, it's amazing that he lived past 30, let alone 97! Lets remember Louis and all of our soldiers this 4th of July!
