My Daughter's Office In Mozambique

She's preparing all of the minutia for her med school application and this is the only place that has an internet signal.
The application process for the 16 schools that she is applying to is a test in itself with the essays, personal statement, resume, and everything else that is required. Tomorrow I give her the credit card number and she'll charge $850.00 to apply. That arduous process will be over and it's then just a wait to see who accepts her.
I am still tearing up just looking at that pic and thinking of how strong of a girl she has become. Damn I'm proud of her.

Um, you sure she isn't in the PI drinking rhum with Island14? It kinda looks like his part of the world based on the picture. Maybe the $850 was for the rhum vendor, who cut them off until they paid their previous bill?

She said that she'll go to Africa during our summers and do Doctors w/o Borders, if she does become a physician.
She actually met a boyfriend in Maputo, the coast, who is a pilot. His father owns coal mines in S. Africa, so who knows where she'll end up?
One thing for sure is that she wants to go to Georgetown for med school and nothing will stop her except non-acceptance.

For some reason that does not surprise me, now that she has seen the other side of the world, she realizes how much help she can be to those who really need it.

That dead looking thing with the big droopy leafs directly behind her in the photo is a Banana with no fruit on it yet.

I have quite a few growing in my yard so recognized it right away.
