Just got the card. Went on their web site. Filled out the form. That one question that asks if you can be impartial. I was thinking... NOT :kick:

Depends on whether you want to serve. Check NOT if you don't want to serve. You'll probably be called anyway, but here are the magic answers to get out of jury duty:

Criminal trial: "I can tell by the defendant's beady little eyes that's he's guilty of something."

Civil trial: "I figure if you get sued, you're guilty."

Last trial I got roped into was a federal one. Drugs, guns and money sort of thing. It was so open/shut it was laughable except for the two cupid stunts in the deliberations that could not understand simple English. A complete waste of time. Since then I will do everything in my power to not go to another one. :cert:

Last time I was interviewed for a trial, they ask me some stupid questions. One of them below:

If there was a box, and inside that box was a mouse. If we open the box and put a cat inside the box, close the lid, and wait 5 minutes. Do you think there would be a mouse in the box after 5 minutes?

My answer: NO

Dismissed

I look at it like this: What person in their right mind would want their fate decided by 12 people who were too dumb to get out of jury duty?

The remains of a mouse is still a mouse.

The remains of a mouse is still a mouse.

Whether in the cat's stomach or not.

I see it differently. If I have the time, I'd WANT to serve on a jury. What kind of power does the average person have to see that the right thing is done? Usually, not much. As a juror, though, you do have that power.....the power to punish, the power to stop a travesty of justice, and the power of everything in between.

I would want to serve and take it seriously because if I was in court as a defendant or plaintiff, I'd want others to take my issue seriously, too.

I'm still grateful to get removed from the pool of potential jurors for that federal murder trial a couple of months ago. I think the trial is still going, sheez.
