I left my bathing suit hanging outside on the hot tub. There's a spot for hanging towels and bathing suits and such.
I put it on. Before I could get it off it stung me in two places.
It's now safely in a pint mason jar.

I was afraid to ask where......
John got stung by something near his dun lapped over area and it left the stinger. Had to dig pieces of it out several times.

Bumbledeebees are generally more yellow. That guy looks more like a carpenter bee; they chew perfectly round holes in wood siding, etc. and lay their eggs in the holes. a PIA since they love the soffit boards on my house. And they sting too.....

It did not leave a stinger.
I'm thinking (based on my considerate research on ("google" "black" "bee" "florida" +"images") (sic) that it's a female carpenter bee.

Carpenter Bee. A Bumble Bee will not typically have the shiny abdomen, theirs is usually covered in fuzzy hair like thing.
Look for random piles of shavings in any wodden structure....they make nests in wood.
I took down an old fire wood holder that had been up for 5-6 years, and it had (2) 2X12's that ran its length, and one had about 60 nesting in it. I cut it in half with a circular saw, and exposed about 10 holes, and they filed out of all of them....

That would appear to be a member of the genus Bombus in the family Apidae.

It's definitely not a bumblebee.
Bumblebees have yellow on their bodies. This one's all black.

Thinking this is still the case and critical mass is not far away. Although once the swelling goes down he maybe so depressed that we have to endure more ancient thread resurrections. Oh... wait......:leaving:
