When your bare feet hit the water from 30+ feet it can sting like a bitch if you hit at the wrong angle.

I didn't until I was about 20-years-old. I had a Summer job in New Orleans, and we were building what I think was called The Trade Center building. I rode in the construction elevator (a wire cage that bangs the sides as you go up) to the top when it was just a bare steel structure. Nobody told me that such structures sway in the wind about 2-3 feet.
Holy Sheit! I was clinging to a beam for dear life! Since then, I get dizzy just thinking about heights.

Heck back in the 70's we use to go to Clifton Gouge and jump into the water. Now it's against the law to jump there.:cert:

So now we know why you're always getting horizontal on the ground. :seasix:

When I was younger I'd do that no problem. I used to jump or dive off the highest dive board or platform but tended to be a bit of a wuss when it came to jumping off cliffs into the water. Had a couple friends get paralyzed doing stuff like that. One guy I went to HS with got paralyzed diving into a shallow area at a pool I used to work at during the summers. He's been a quadriplegic since then, that would suck major. He did have some limited movement in his right arm/hand, but that was it.

Ditto. I can go up in planes, stand in high buildings etc...but can't go near the edge or stand near anything like that pic. I get dizzy on step ladders :funny:

I went there once also while skipping school one day but don't think I jumped.
Can't remember if I did or not to be honest. :island14:

I am "sort of" afraid of heights. Planes, tall buildings, towers dont bother me. Neither do bridges until I did it on a motorcycle and realized I was sitting higher than the gaurdrail looking down hundreds of feet. Gave me wicked vertigo.

Back when a little kid maybe 8 y/o, I climbed a old wooden ladder to pick a rose for Mom, so I was told years later, and I landed in a window well going head first but managed to catch myself on my arms/hands.....Sis/Mom told me they grabbed my feet to pull me out.....and so....
I"m good to some 20' elevation on anything 'solid', but strange enough I can go up in a plane, even a Cessna 152 without problems, canvas sides and all....
Go figger.....:rofl::issues::leaving:

I lasted till about 45. I slipped on the ice and broke my leg in two places.
Strangely enough after that I have been afraid of heights. Its really weird. I used to be a commercial/industrial roofer while in college on some dam tall buildings. I used to do tree work as well, with nothing but a rope and climbing rig holding me up there.
No more. I am good to about 20ft. And forget about getting near the edge. :ohnoes:

I used to dismiss phobias, but not after my height incident. They are real. You're lucky that you can go up 20'.
