View Full Version : Advice for my Match.com friend...

He has found a girl on match that he's apparently infatuated with, but he's sent her 3 message, she's read them and hasn't responded. He wants to get more materialistic and send her pics of his cars, house inside and out, swimming pool, etc. in a "last chance to correspond" message. (He does have money) I told him "Hell, no", but he still wants to. I see his point of "What's there to lose?", but I don't think it'll make her respond because if she does, she then looks like she's interested in things.
What would you do? BTW, I can see his attraction:

What's her profile?? :leaving:
"Please guys, read women's profiles. Why contact somebody you have nothing in common with? And then get hostile when your invitation is politely declined! Why not contact somebody who shares your interests, instead of somebody who doesn't? It would save you a lot of wasted time...
Although I've received invitations many women would be delighted to accept. Cocktails at the Ritz. Dinner at one of Naples exclusive restaurants etc. They obviously came from men who didn't read my profile.
If you're looking for a woman who enjoys the endless, cocktails/happy hour/early bird/hit the hot spots circuit I imagine in Naples, you're spoilt for choice. But that lifestyle isn't mine. I would be thrilled to meet someone whose interests include non of the above.
The highlight of my week will be helping transport two tiny rescued dogs, (one blind senior and one healthy one year old) from Miami's high kill shelter..to their new homes in Orlando. A journey that involves 4 volunteers, each driving a part of the way. I'm leg #2 Naples-Sarasota.
My dream is to live in a house large enough to enable me to actually foster rescue dogs. Offer them a temporary home. While they find their forever home. Every mans dream. A house full of small unwanted dogs!! However, I know he's out there somewhere.
Saturday morning I'll be shopping at the farmers market, Sunday will be another bike ride.
Nightclubs, drinking, dining out every evening, late nights ... are just not a part of my life..
Florida is a beautiful state. But romance has completely eluded me here. I moved from AZ a year and a half ago remained single the entire time. I'm completely open to relocating!
Looking back on the dates I've had, I honestly believe there are two types of 1st date, that almost guarantee failure. For me at least.
The dinner date, or putting the cart before the horse!. An expensive, romantic dinner with somebody you've never met before. Dressed up to the nines, candlelight flickering, caught up in the moment. Maybe a glass or two of wine.Too often, the romantic dinner ambiance.. masks the fact that there really isn't anything in common.
You might believe sparks are flying. But when you meet again during the day, for something less elaborate, you realize there's nothing there.
Better to begin with a daytime date. Maybe you have a suggestion? And follow with a dinner date, if things go well.
The stagnant and uninspiring, coffee date. More often than not feels like a rather uncomfortable interrogation. Unless paired with another activity. Art show and coffee, flea market and coffee, farmers market and coffee.
I have two adorable, little blind dogs. So I'm always up for an activity that includes them
My ideal match is romantic, handsome in his own way, perhaps a little quirky, active, pet friendly. Doesn't mind very occasionally getting out on the dance floor. He enjoys regular activities.... I've lived in FL over a year. I walk my dogs twice a day. That's over 800 walks, alone. I would love to meet somebody who can appreciate and enjoy, some of the simpler things in life. Who'd join me on my walks..
My passions are health, fitness and volunteering. It's very fulfilling donating my time networking to find forever homes, for dogs in high kill shelters.
A great evening : Relaxing barefoot on the patio, fish on the grill. A great evening out might include, trying out the newest ethnic, or sea food restaurant. A movie and casual dinner.
Condo living is a deal breaker for me. So best get it out there! I find it extremely claustrophobic, no matter how great the view, the facilities the convenience.. For me, nothing beats stepping through the patio door, out into the yard, dogs following along. Relaxing on the patio, pottering around in the yard. I realize this eliminates a huge percentage of men.. but best to be upfront, to avoid wasting your time..
If anything in my profile text appeals to you, I'd love to hear from you."
Could all be BS, but she sounds grounded to me.

I think you should go for it.. :yesnod:
Life is short and as much as we all want real love there just ain't much of it out there, so may as well get all you can while you can, with all of the tools in your tool box.
I know for a fact that a lot of them like coke,, so I guess that's just the price of love for the night? :island14:

He is not going to sway this chic with anything, pics of stuff, whatever, etc.. His best chance is to respond with wanting to meet her blind dogs. She seems Way too in to human analysis on the dating/chemistry scale so prepare to be flogged. Good luck to him though. :yesnod:

Spence,
Does your friend live locally in Naples? If not, that's probably going to be a problem.
If so, does he have a dog? Can he borrow or rent one? Have him suggest a "play date" for his dog and hers, followed by lunch at an outdoor café that is dog-friendly.

No, he lives here in Mississippi, but if I remember correctly that was within range of her preferences (I could be wrong, too lazy to go look at her profile again). He doesn't own a dog, but he definitely likes pets. When he comes over, my cats can't get enough of him; he seems to understand animals. He's a nice guy basically.

Based on that, if I was the woman, I'd call your friend a GU......geographically undesireable. Is there no one a little closer to his own zip code that appeals to him? Maybe just shoot for the same state, maybe?
A guy driving what, 8 or 9 hours to meet you for a casual date? That's a lot of damn pressure, for both folks. The woman is all about dogs. Your friend doesn't even have a dog. He needs to move on. She's not for him, and is doing him a favor by not responding. Look, if it was you and not "a friend", at least you have something in common because you take in wayward cats. That's at least in the same ballpark.

Had a friend that was blonde, slender, cute, a hair dresser and dog rescue fanatic. Her dogs were very very very important to her, and her first husband got fed up with being second fiddle but it was her idea to get a divorce. I knew she was making a big mistake, her first husband was a great guy. She was looking for Mr. Perfect whoever that might be. She bounced around some, I lost track of her after awhile. She did pop up once wanting me to go through her second husband's computer looking for evidence he had gambled all their money away. I found it and then some. Off shore online gambling, he'd gone through something like $50k in just a few months.
Last year she committed suicide.
So I'm just sayin', crazy blonde dog chick will probably do crazy blonde dog chick things.

Hey Larry... Sorry for my judgement call during the wee hours of the morning after just getting home from a Jungle Disco, needless to say I was reading this with one eye open and trying to keep my forehead from hitting the keyboard.
Luckily the power went off so kept me from making any more stupid comments or post..
But now that I am back and alcohol free for almost 24 hours, and reading her profile I am convinced she is looking for a man with a large house that she can turn into a shelter for homeless dogs.
Men with condos need not apply, she makes that rather clear.
It sounds like photos of your friends cars, and his possessions, are not going to be the trick, what he needs is photos of a big house with a fenced in yard, possibly a barn like Jeff79 has would be a huge bonus.
Going all Doggie style is going to be the key.. :D

Did she have children?

No kids thank goodness. Yeah, it was quite a shock. Went to her wedding, over to her and her first husband's house a bunch, all sorts of stuff. Plus she cut my hair for about 10 years. She was a total babe back in the day, I'm telling you.
