Lady ran a red light. Drivers side rail is wrapped around the engine.
I really liked this car and maintained it hoping it would take me into retirement in seven or eight years; the car was like new; the only failure I had was the stereo, replaced under warranty. It then went 90K with no repairs.
This sucks.

That blows, Craig. Hope you find a satisfactory replacement. :seasix:

That sucks...what intersection?

Lenox and Phipps Blvd; I was turning out of Alliance Center heading towards 400, she was heading East on Lenox.

That's a likely candidate; a car payment was not in my current retirement savings plan...what I'd like to do is rewind yesterday and not have to replace a really good car that I liked and had kept in really good condition...and was paid for.

Well the up side is that used 4 door G35's aren't very expensive and they are usually pretty reliable. You could probably go get another one.

So your car is totaled, then? No hope of getting it satisfactorily repaired?

Wow.. Doesn't even look that bad.
Sorry.

The entire front clip, including the sub-frame, will have to be replaced; the bumper (not just the cover) is shifted a foot toward the passenger side, the driver's side rail is wrapped into the accessory drives. Passenger side suspension looks okay, drivers side is bent. The guy at the shop said it's do-able but it's a lot of labor. He didn't think the value of the car is high enough for insurance to pay for the repair. He said there'd be $6K in labor just to replace the frame and remove and install the engine/transmission, that's before all the sheet metal.

ouch
very sad, indeed
Lenox and Phipps Blvd; I was turning out of Alliance Center heading towards 400, she was heading East on Lenox.
Hate just about any intersection near that area. Too many distracted drivers, and way too many entitled idiots in their expensive cars trying to save 2 seconds. I have finally come to the conclusion that if you can't beat them, fk it, might as well join them. I try to be the polite one in traffic, or anywhere for that matter, and they still drive like douche rockets...so fk em...Let the big dogs eat!
It's not fully official yet, but almost; car is toast. Body shop manager said it would take two months to repair.
...I'm thinking thinking three or four year old V8 Genesis.

There is no Genesis V8 coupe, but there is a V6.
Sorry to hear that about your G. They've been a good car for Infiniti and you apparently.

Not yet. But hope springs eternal for 2015...

I know Hyundai is dropping the 2.0T for the Coupe next hear, and going with only the V6. I hadn't heard about them putting a V8 in there... That'd be fun though!

That is a great motor. My wife has a 2013 2.0T sonata and it's a great car. On highway road trips at 80 mph it gets 30 miles per gallon. But get it on a back road with the paddle shifters and the 270+ horsepower it's really fun to drive.
I saw the repair estimate:
$0. "Obvious total loss."
Still waiting to see what they give me for the car. I've lost interest in the Genesis. I'm probably going to focus on a low mileage G35S Sedan.

There's no way I'd let them total that car. I'd make them fix it, camping out in the repair shop monitoring the repair process. The insurance be damned, I'm getting that fixed! This is a car that deserves to live, and live it will.
Wait, you say it doesn't have 200,000 miles on it? Well screw that! Kill it with fire then!

I've no doubt that it'll be fixed and sold with a rebuild title. I've thought about keeping an eye out and seeing if I can buy it once it's rebuilt. Probably a bad idea.

It will be. The insurance company fed me that same line when they "totaled" my '87 Acrua Integra LS. Six weeks later, the body shop called me up and asked me if I had a spare key!
They gave me $11k for it. Probably fair; I'd be happy if they'd fix it and give it back. Not sure what I'll do. I've got a 97 Sonoma SLS and 92 Vette to drive, might just wait and see what comes around...
...suggestions..?
