What city had the most canine attacks on carriers last year? Houston, according to the latest U.S. Postal Service rankings, with 63 dog attacks on postal carriers.

Following Houston were Los Angeles, Cleveland, San Diego and Chicago, the postal service found.

Nearly 5,600 postal employees were attacked by a dog last year.

"There's a myth we often hear at the Postal Service. Don't worry — my dog won't bite," said Linda DeCarlo, postal service manager of safety, in a statement. "Dog attacks are a nationwide issue and not just a postal problem."

Mail carriers aren't the only victims of dog bites. Nearly 4.5 million Americans are bitten by a dog each year, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Some tips from USPS to prevent getting attacked: Don't run past a dog because its instinct is to chase you. And if you get knocked down by a dog, curl into a ball.

Does a mailman's dog bark at their own owner? WTF is it with dogs and letter carriers? I have never understood this. My own dog goes nuts when the mailman comes. She knows the sound of the mailbox opening, and forget about it. BARK, WOOF WOOF, BARK, BARK.

You'd like my barber. Mid 70's, deacon in the church. He actually lives in Houston and hates the mayor, specifically because she's gay, not because of any particular policy or thing that she has done as mayor. His US Rep. is Sheila Jackson Lee, too. He's got some stories about her. (They aren't positive.)

IMHO, Mayor Parker was a competent comptroller, who warned her predecessor mayor about the problems of underfunded (and unrealistic) police and fire pensions. Of course, when she was elected, she didn't address that problem, or the crumbling streets in Houston. Hey, she's better than Bill "Red Light Camera" White, so there's that.

1. If she would get off her gay soap box I wouldn't care. Yet she isn't and she's making it an issue. So when one makes it an issue they can deal with the fall out. If she did a good job managing the city and fixing the real problems I wouldn't care what she does in her bedroom.

She didn't make an issue of it in her first term.

2. She has done a crap job as mayor. Just as the last two mayors have done a crap job.

Well, she didn't do anything to address the looming debt crisis resulting from unrealistic pension promises, and the streets suck, so yeah, I guess I agree somewhat.

3. Sheila Jackson Lee is the biggest embarrassment to the state of Texas on a federal level. I'd say she sucks but I don't want to insult vacuum cleaners.

The choir. You're preaching to it.

4. I pity your pastor for living in that cunder thunts district. I'd GTHO if I could.

They live in Garden Villas. When "white flight" was taking place, they just never moved.

Well if we're going to do the "they're better than game" then lets set the bar below the ground and point out both were better than "Out of Town" Lee P. Brown.

And if the same people are all that are voting next time, I predict another sucky mayor for Houston. :(

:iagree:
