Haven't been there in about 10 yrs. Not that far from me. I was half tempted to go over for the race.
I did the Petty experience at Atl. one year. Hit 145mph! What a blast!

I really like Chase Elliot. I was hoping he would win and he was close to doing it...till he got pounded by that crazy guy coming down and smacking the other lead cars.

I got back from The Falls at noon after a sleep over and then had to prep up a subdivision presentation for the town planning board for some land that I have offers on. Hopefully if the stars line up, my train will finally arrive!
I saw the races... :D

:iagree: The kid is the real deal. I think Larson is too. Add Dillon to that and you have the next generation of top dogs in Cup.

Pre-race show! I went to a race there one year. Wound up buying cheap tickets from a scalper. They were almost front row out of turn 4. By the end of the race. The left side of my face was black from all the tire dust thrown up from the track.

Why do they mention biggest mover? Of course the top 5 or even 10 probably won't be the biggest mover. Dumbest stat ever. Busch had to start in the back because he is using a different engine. That put him in the best position to be the "biggest mover". Does Captain Obvious work for NASCAR?

Growing up in the '70s/'80s. One of my favorite memories is being outside and listening to the race on the radio while washing the car or doing other chores. I think I'm going outside and do that again today. Of course, if there is a wreck I'll go running back to the big screen TV lol

You shouldn't get out on the track if you don't want to race! There is already enough parade laps in NASCAR. Race was boring...

Seemed like a good decision to be honest....
Their strategy was to come in and get gas...go out, pass as many cars as possible, and wait for the crashes to thin it out...making up ground on restarts. But...on the restarts, you had 3 lanes, 12 cars deep....no one could move, it was just waiting for the wrecking. JR tried to go on the outside, he was pulling that line right along, but McDowell pulled out in front of him...Jr had to lift to keep from running over him...lost his momentum, and rapdily lost positions. At that point, it was 3-4 wide, no way to make up that kind of ground...it was waiting for the bigger one, and 2X..it happened. He left with a clean car to take to daytona, and left with no injuries, and no enemies, and still 4th in points. Its big picture racing.

Yep, that's exactly how it went down.
When McDowell pulled over in front of him, it was all over but the shouting for him.

At most any other track, may have played out differently...but at dega, you know people are going to get stupid in the last 10-15 laps, and there are going to be some wrecks. 2 wrecks occurred right where JR had just been. There was physically no way to move up from anywhere...why not give up 4-5 spots and let it all go to hell in front of you?
Id like to know how close he was on fuel...

A few people have come back from many laps down to win that race, Dale Sr. being one of them.
Ain't nothing wrong with what Kes did. Danica gave him no quarter and he paid the price in the first spin and ya, so what if he was racing to get a lap back. That's what it's all about.... For most racers.....

I think I heard JJ say something similar during a pre-race interview. He wasn't concerned about winning at 'dega, cause he is already assured a spot in the chase. Stupid NASCAR again. Only the top 3 should get points.
