My brother in Cartersville Georgia has a 1963 Olds Cutlass F-85. It was our parents first new car. It's in excellent physical shape. Mechanically though...dunno. It's sat for a while. Probably needs tires, brakes and who knows with the engine. It's an aluminum block Olds Rocket 215CI V8. He is interested in selling it due to financial issues that i do not want to go into.

I will get more info upon request. Looking for a photo to post.

Here is what my brother said

Probably 25 years since it's been started. I put marvel mystery oil in it right after I got it 10 years ago. Anything rubber needs replaced.

Well, since the collectibility of that car isn't very high (I don't think) it's probably a parts car at this point.

Of course, now, someone's probably going to come along and point out that is one of 30 type of car that's worth a mint.

2 door Maroon. No a/c. AM radio. I may be wrong, but I think the engine is an aluminum engine.

Condition 4 is valued at $7300, but not sure where this car fits due to the time since it last ran. The car was physically great that last time I saw it. But sitting for so long...

If I were interested in the car, and I'm not, I doubt I'd pay $5,000.

Maybe $3,000 if it was exactly the year/options I wanted, and everything g was present and in restorable condition.

If I could afford it, I'd buy it.

He has been paying his daughter's legal fees due to her ex husband. Now he needs the money.

I've bought and restored several cars. It is so easy to get upside down on a car that isn't that popular. I might be interested and would certainly take some pics and have a look for anyone else. C'ville is about 30 miles from me. Of course, you can sell about anything you want on CL. The only real thing I'm hossing for now is a '55 2dr. post.

Hmmm...? needs everything to be drivable, not the top of the series, engine condition unknown.....$2500-$3000 tops.
And only if it's 100% rust free. :yesnod:

The seller's needs are worth exactly $0.00 to the buyer.

Looks like pretty neat car but would be very challenging to restore.

I got outta HS in '62, went to college in fall '62, while there, Dad bought Mom one of them....a 4dr sedan, yes the 215 ci Range Rover engine that GM sold to the brits in the early 60's.....we had no turbo, so sad.....

I put about 30k miles on it, Mom did maybe 5000 so it sat in the garage from about '66 until '90 when we sold it, I had to redo the brakes/carb/battery, but you know that car ran fine on the 1/2 tank of gas remaining in the tank....not purrrrfect but enough to get to the station to top off the tank, where it smoothed out the idle and so on the road.....sold it with the old rotten tires on it....got 4 grand for it.....

it was the car I tried to avoid some dawgs on the road, taking Mom to the grocery store, into a ditch, tipped over and right side A pillar destroyed as her head hit the windshield.......I was age 19-20 learned a tough lesson that AM, never turn the wheel, no matter WHAT.....countless animals since then, including a freeking COW......

:issues:

Man, does that car bring back memories.....:D:cert:

I wonder what it would take to make this one drivable. Obviously the tires and brakes need replaced. Would you just add some fresh gas and hope it starts?

I think it is worth trying to get it started ... see if the engine turns over first ( not frozen)... give it some fresh gas - hook up a charged battery and give it a spin. It will be worth more if you can say it runs.
