I use a Promaster digital card reader for loading pics. Just plug into a USB port, a window appears, you tell it "okay", and the next window should display all the pics on the card. Mine immediately goes to a full-screen display of one pic. End of story.
Is it my computer or the reader? There's not another computer in the house right now to try the reader on.

What program is it opening the pictures in? Windows Explorer? Something like Adobe?

Windows Explorer. I know the easiest way to check is to try another computer, which I can do at the office on Monday.

It's just a setting in Explorer. You need to set it to thumbnail view. What operating system?
At any rate you should be able to right-click somewhere just off the picture and change your View settings. Or perhaps you just are horrible with computers. That could be too.

I'm with CC. Your computer and reader are fine. You've just managed to change the view in the program is all. I love this program and you can even get into editing your pics with it.
IrfanView - Official Homepage - one of the most popular viewers worldwide (http://www.irfanview.com/)

I do know what you mean, but the pic is full-screen. No way to get off the pic to right click.

Hit Escape perhaps? There has to be something to click on. Sounds like it's in slide show mode or something. What happens when you press the left or right arrows?
I bet you can right-click on the picture and click Exit or just press the Escape key. Here's something I googled up. (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-pictures/how-to-view-a-picture-in-full-screen-mode/5ab4c38f-24e2-4cd0-b79b-9d1fac9fec69)
I grew up with card readers. I know card readers, and THIS is a card reader:

It's in slide show mode for sure. I found a pic I could right click on, but it's the old "Rotate clockwise", "Rotate counterclockwise", "properties", etc. How do I change modes?

Right click off to the left. Click on view. Click something like details or small thumbnails. :cert:
Start menu\All programs\Accessories\Windows Explorer
should get you there
