Hey guys,I have a problem that started when I last filled up, the shut off on the pump was broken and the gas over filled all over the fender,The next morning I smelled gas in the garage and thought maybe some was pooled up behind the fender, eventually it went away over the next few weeks, but now when I drive the car and say go to dinner or shopping when I return the cab smells like gas everytime, any ideas?

Just guessing here. What year is your car, maybe you have the cracked crossover tube thing they just recalled?

It's the fuel filter!!!!!

It's located up beside the frame. They leak and collect in the tank shield and then run to the ground.

:iagree: I had this with my 97, 97 & 98 has the same fuel filter mine was leaking at the connector a o ring or something goes bad, mine was dripping on the exhaust.

Not sure why it would start this after the over fill if it is the fuel filter.

That's the first thing i checked was the filter. The last time I changed it out one of the clamps worked it's way loose and I got it taken care of quick .I checked under the hood and it's dry as a bone, the only time I smell gas is right after I drive it then park it for a few.

Pull the left side inner fender. You'll be able to see the area around the gas fill. Get in there with some Simple Green and flush the area out. I still think you're dealing with residual odor from the gas fill over-flow and draining behind the fender.

Well it turned out to be a crack in the fuel line about 18" up from the fuel filter on the frame. good news if this is all it was. Better than 2400 bucks for a gas tank removal for a connector pipe change.:hurray:

I'm glad the fuel line don't run over exhaust pipes for sure.
