"Honey it's me. I don't want to alarm you but I was hit by a car as I was leaving the office.
Paula brought me to the hospital. They have checked me over and done some tests and some x-rays.

The blow to my head was severe. I have a concussion and may have subsequent memory and other emotional problems. Fortunately, it did not cause any serious internal injuries; however, I have three broken ribs, a compound fracture in the left leg, and they think they may have to amputate my right foot."

When I was married to my 1st wife (pre cell phone days) I worked for a pest control company and drove a pickup with a 100 gal tank of water in the back. One day I was cut off by a tourist (Kissimmee,FL) and destroyed his rental. My pickup was driveable. The police contacted my employer & my wife.THe only question (routed from dispatcher to police officer on scene) from wife was "are you going to be late?"...
