Did an oil change on the Exploder today (I know...it's a mental problem).
When draining the oil, I noted it didn't take very long. In fact, only 2.5 qts drained out. Counting the quart in the filter, that motor was running on 3.5 quarts. :willy:
Capacity is about six quarts. I use Mobile1 so I'm hoping nothing was damaged.

I hear you. Mine thinks 13,000 to 16,000 miles between oil changes is perfectly acceptable. :slap:

I felt bad going 6400 miles this time. :shots:

 That's nothing! Man, this Volvo that she used to have was a real good car. She drove it hard and it never had any problems. I felt bad for it upon learning of the lack of maintenance schedule.

Could be. I don't see any leaks. 137K miles. Runs like a champ. Probably leaking some too.

Yup. Mine doesn't even grasp the concept of a car wash.

I married the Farmer's Daughter. :seasix: Mary watches gauges and listens for bad noises. She'll hear things before I do :yesnod:
Sounds like I'm a lucky man :D

I have the opposite problem. Wife and daughter get their cars washed weekly and the oil changed every 3000 miles. Daughter is on her own, but wife drives about 20K miles a year: 6+ oil changes aren't cheap.

Every Monday morning I pull the dipstick on the fleet, check fluids, and add as necessary. Yes, I am OCD.

Look at the bright side.....you saved a couple of quarts of oil for later. :D

I call mine the Exploder too. It's not using oil. And yes I wash it and the vette and check the fluid levels and the tire pressure.
The secretary at one of the businesses I used to work for told me her engine light was on. I asked her how long ago she changed her oil. She said she hadn't. She had owned the car 4 years

Mine washes her own, I check fluids/pressures regularly and bug her when it is overdue. It has nearly 100,000 on original brakes and no major service. Oil changes approx... 3k... 1 battery, serviced trans about 60K. 2005 Escape, 4 banger, auto. Fords currently rule for longevity and value in this household.

4 years? Holee shit!

That's nothing compared to my neighbor's snowblower. OLD Ariens with a Tecumseh engine. I was borrowing their snowblower a good bit so I figured I'd change the oil. Neighbor lacked mechanical ability to an extent I have never witnessed before.
Pulled the plug and got about a cup of molasses out of it. Hmmm.... never seen an engine that runs gear oil before. WTF is supposed to be in this thing?? Look it up: straight 30 weight. Was supposed to be a quart or two, also. That thing was more than happy with a fill of 5-30 Mobil 1!

Cheaper than a new engine. :D
I wish I could check the oil with a dipstick. No dipstick on my engine, pure electronic. It reads out on the display once the oil is up to temp and the engine is up to temp.
