Blue Angels in town today. Practicing for the Thunder Over Louisville event this Sat. North America's largest fireworks show and official start of the Kentucky Derby Festival. :seasix:

Aren't they just the coolest thing in the sky? I love watching them, though they make me super nervous.

They rock! I love the USAF Thunderbirds, too. I'll never forget the first time I saw them perform in 1976 at Godman Field at Ft. Knox. My Dad took us there for a July 4th show.

They used to do 2 shows a year here. One in the spring at NAS JAX and the other in the fall at Jacksonville Beach.

This year they will only be performing once here. In the fall at NAS JAX.

Here's a little tidbit for ya...

The Blue Angels team was created in Jacksonville in 1946.

Heard them practicing yesterday morning, heard them leaving this morning. Our shop is 3 miles north of NAS Pensacola

For years, I have been saying I would make it to the air show at Miramar--I have family in San Diego, they watch the show from their pool. I checked the dates...maybe this is my year because that and Fleet Week are almost back to back. :seasix:

Everyone should definitely peep it once before crossing over. Spectacular display and a great airshow, too!
