So I setting here a few minits ago...and the house shook,
cold rain/mist for over 24 hours now, ~45f outside, weather sux.....
and so the front deck cover collapsed, and thankfully it did not damage any plants even the hangers on seemed to survive....next one gets galv through bolts, and no lattice work, but the Jasmine will have less to go with, needs trimming anyway.....damnit.....
freeking modern PT lumber not worth a damn anyway.....LARS, you know of a GOOD source that does the job right,?? screw the EPA.....or do I have to do it myself??? spray with old engine oil???

Telling you, cuts attic temps in summer, by some 40f+ drops our a/c bill by about 75-100 bux/month.....
on CF there is a fellow called NOONIE, he is a contractor down south a good bit, near MIAMI and he says many folks paint roofs white to cut down the a/c costs.....similar results....

Hmmm....wonder if my HOA would go for that.
Probably NOT, bunch of nazis like that group up north some 35? years ago.....
which is why I bought here, decent burb without all the hangups of a HOA....
:issues::seasix:
So I pulled in all the plants and hanging chims/etc....now the issue is to take down the wreckage without killing wife/me.....gotta dry that shit out first, freeking rain makes it over twice as heavy, and some of them hanging plants must be over 25 lbs, easy.....and a couple/few of them....
next time, it's 2x6 and through bolted galvenized.....pull THAT down, mommy nature....

Damn Gene, sorry about the unintentional demo. :banghead:
Crazy how much cooler it is just a few hours North. We've been low 80s all day.

Is that palm tree dead or does that just happen in winter?
Is there a tree in the middle of the path?
I like your water feature.

Looks like it may be a Cocos Palm, that brown color is natural.

That palm was planted almost 2 years ago, came from front near the house where wife's daughter bought, she wanted more light, so dug up the 4 stalk tree and planted it in out yard over the water feature, trick is, the two short stalks died and now this damn winter has killed the prawns on the main two stems.....I not thinking it will come back....damnit....I think it's indigenous to further south, overnight lo's in the 20's killed it, wrapping or not.....
that little path is just some yard art that wife likes to play with....that chair with the flower pot is an allusion to a toilet, which is an old joke between me and her, when replacing the toilets, years ago I wanted to make planters out front outta them.....:issues: so yes, Dear, you win....damnit....:leaving:
so she finds this chair frame, and has a petunia in a pot....so I cut some Hardiboard hole for a 'seat' put the potted plant in the chair, and you can't read the sign across the back of the chair, but it says PEE Tunia Chair.....:rofl:
Water feature is a ten buck recirc pump, with a concrete mix pan set in the dirt and level with surface and a couple bricks and so the pot is a 20 buck Home Despot item....had a hose dedicated to refill the fountain, need fix it though....it was on auto fill when the HVAC ran...we have a well and so water/air on the heat exchanger, and NO defrost cycle on the heat cycle, so saving money....
BUT now with the collapse, it's going to be awful light on the west facing house window.....even with the lo e thermal plastic window.....:issues:
:dance::cert:
I stand corrected on the palm
White roof is good :seasix:

It's for Lars to know and Gene to find out.

I think gene needs to cover me in an all expense paid vacation on the St Johns river. Where I can inspect his home for code violations. My report will be based on the quality of the resort I stay in.
Or at minimum...the quality of his Scotch. :rofl:
