View Full Version : Angina
What are you supposed to do for this???
I seem to be having it a lot here for the past few months. Worse when I'm pissed off and aggravated.

Maybe go to the ER or to at least a doctor? Just a thought....
First, take aspirin....lots of aspirin. Then schedule an appointment with a doctor. If you are having angina vs. heartburn, that's pretty damn serious.
(not a doctor, did not stay at a Holiday Inn last night)

Bump it up to tomorrow.
The sooner that you do the stress test, the better chance you will have to live past next month.

If it is angina, you won't be at your appointment in 2 weeks. You'll be dead.

And make sure you don't blow yourself up should the Doctor prescribe Nitroglycerin tablets. LOL
No, you can't blow yourself up but you can lessen the effects of angina pectoris by taking an "under the tongue" nitro tablet.

Tablets are old school, get the spray...much faster acting.
BTW, taking more than 82mg of asprin doesn't protect you any more in fact it's bad for angina, so my heart doc says anyway. :(
Get yer butt in to the ER right away, or we'll be having a memorial thread for you any day now. :sadangel: :slap:

There's a reason why you go to the front of the line when you go to the ER and mention chest pain. They will do an EKG immediately and respond accordingly.
Go. Now.
I'm hearing the Oak Ridge Boys song, "Elvira", only sung as "Angina."

Not good enough. If angina history tells us anything, it's that most heart attacks occur in the early hours of the morning, from 4am onwards - when ER staff levels are lowest. Early morning heart attacks are linked to the platelets in the blood becoming stickier and more prone to clotting.
Your heart is failing if it's angina. It's very possible that you have already had a heart attack; it just didn't kill you. If that's true, you could die at any moment. The heart attack that I had occured at "some time in the past". The symptoms that later presented themselves were just a countdown to my death.
On the way to the ER I almost decided not to go because I started feeling better. I went anyway, and within 30 minutes of being admitted my heart stopped.
As someone else said, just say, "I think I'm having a heart attack", and you'll move to the head of the line.

Ask for a reference to a cardiologist, if you don't have one. Could be one of several things - valves, arteries, tissue, etc...

You don't get it, friend. If you're having chest pain, something is wrong. And it's wrong NOW! It's particularly wrong if you're taking Plavix and aspirin. I don't care how many stents you have or how many bypasses you have, something is wrong!
Go ahead...be a feckin' fool.

I am guessing this a cardiologist not a general practitioner you are seeing. If not, please don't mess around and follow up with a cardiologist.
