On craigslist.
Offered it for $60 and included a cheap engine stand (missing handle and a bolt)
Guy emailed me wanting it, but offered $50 because he had to drive an hour. I told him $55 is scrap price and I won't go any lower. He told me $50 was all he had. I told him sorry.
That was last week.
Saturday he textes me if I still had the engine, and offered me $50 again. I just copied and pasted the replies from last week.
He agreed to pay the $55 and would be down on Sunday. Fine
He showed up, gave me $60 and asked if I had change. Nope.
He told me "must be your lucky day." Guess so... especially since you didn't have the foresight to stop anywhere during the hour drive and break the $10.

I would have given him $75, but all I have is a 50, 20 and 10, so he'd have to have a $5 he could give me.

Hard to believe people will screw around for 10 bucks when buying a whole motor? :slap:

I swapped a 23hp briggs Twin that was blown up for a new one, for a customer, and I kept the old lbown up engine.
I tore it down, scooped out the broken rod bits, cleaned it up...honed the cylinders, put it all in a rubbermade container...and stuck it on CL for 300 dollars...obo, almost jokingly...to make fun of some of the stupid ads people put up....
Guy called...offered 250, I told him to come get it.
A box of parts...old carb, starte,r busted block, 1 piston...some tins, sheetmetal...I was in disbelief it sold in 1 days time...

I was checking into the trunks and glove boxes of a bunch of old cars at a friends salvage yard years ago.
Mostly looking for owners manuals and bumper jacks as they use to sell on ebay pretty well.
I found a box of fossils that had some kinda jaw bone in it, I wasn't sure if it was from a dog, or a deer or what. but listed it on ebay.
Unknown Jawbone with Teeth
Not sure what this came off of, but someone out here can use this more than me so listing it here for sale.

People will buy anything if they think they are getting one over on you...
i sold a wrecked 1990 Volvo 740 TIC Sedan that needed tires, had no blinkers, barely ran, needed an alternator, no A/C, no heat, blown out muffler and pipes...on CL. I listed it for 700, and had 2 people drive out that night and fight over it in my driveway as i tried ot keep it running long enough to show it....
