IMO, a big part of that is that, unlike most 'actors', people remember his characters, not him. He's one of those guys that can take a role and play it without people thinking "it's tom hanks playing a Fed-Ex pilot-now tom hanks is an astronaut-now tom hanks is a soldier"
He didn't just do arty/farty stuff either. He was in Twister, Boogie Nights, The Big Lebowski, Almost Famous, Punch Drunk Love, Mission Impossible III, Moneyball...

The only thing I remember about that is Heather Graham. There were other people in it and the movie was more than 3 minutes long?:leaving:

Great actor. I didn't know much about him, and didn't realize he had a drug problem. I also thought he was older than he was.

I'll never understand people that "try" heroin. Same with meth.
Who is just a casual user of that shit? You either don't use it or you are an addict. How do you make that jump?

Have a hard time feeling sorry for anyone who dies with a needle sticking in their arm.
Sorry for his family and friends. They now have to live with the fact this idiot died like he did.

Yep.
...another f**king idiot celebrity living in a dream world in which they believe there are no consequences. Good riddance. I'll save my grief for those who actually deserve it. It's not like he somehow accidentally fell into a bunch of needles. It was a conscious decision that he made. The only people I feel sorry for here are those whose lives he has turned upside down with his moronic selfishness.

Yet another person who had it all and threw it all away. People like that with every resource under the sun to get the help they need and just don't do it. unfortunate loss of a talent that I enjoyed but other than that no great loss to humanity as a whole.

I'm glad Robert Downey, Jr. got his act together. He was on a similar road to ruin back in the day, too. Dittto for ol' girl Drew Barrymore. In rehab at what? 14 and junk? She gets the whole tigglebitty thing, though. :D
"I really love my body and the way it is right now. There's something very awkward about women and their breasts because men look at them so much. When they're huge, you become very self-conscious. Your back hurts. You find that whatever you wear, you look heavy in. It's uncomfortable. I've learned something, though, about breasts through my years of pondering and pontificating, and that is: Men love them, and I love that."
He had me convinced that he was a supreme dick in Scent of a Woman. Pretty good actor FWIW.

We had a prospective hire fail a drug test and say she just "dabbled" with crack. Needless to say, we passed.
