Six weeks puts us at March 16th. that would be great! :hurray:

(Remembering winter didn't depart until the end of April last year)

All I learned from that movie is that if you're patient long enough, any schmuck can bang Andie MacDowell.:yesnod:

The Farmer's Almanac and I say that Phil is full of horse hockey. Not because he predicts 6 more weeks of Winter...No, it's going to be longer than that. In all fairness I know that Phil has only two options: 6 more weeks of Winter or not, so he got it as close as he could.

I think Winter will last all the way through March and that April will be temps as usual. The Almanac calls for a stormy March across the Nation.

Well it's definitely still winter in DFW. Calling for sleet and cold rain for us today!

Feels like groundhog day all over again!

The John C. Freeman Weather Museum was on the hunt for a native Texas animal to help with the traditional Groundhog Day prediction of the end of winter, so they asked Houstonians for help.

The museum solicited votes on their Web site, and after all the votes were tallied, Alamo the longhorn won!

He beat out a nine-banded armadillo, a horned toad, a Houston toad, a black-tailed jackrabbit and a Texas tortoise for the job.

On Thursday , Alamo didn’t see his shadow, which means winter is over. That's the opposite of famed groundhog Punxsutawney Phil's prediction -- Phil saw his shadow Thursday morning in Pennsylvania.

In honor of Alamo’s big victory, anyone who can name the official Groundhog Day forecaster will get free admission to the weather museum on Saturdays in February.

Happy Groundhog Day!
