"Summer will be much hotter than normal, with near-normal rainfall despite a hurricane threat in early to mid-July. The hottest periods will occur from mid-June through early July and in early August.

September and October will be drier than normal, with near-normal temperatures."

It doesn't say how much hotter than normal the Summer will be, but if the hottest periods cover only only 3-4 months (mid-June through early July and in early August) it doesn't sound too bad.

The above forecast is specifically for the Deep South, but the national prediction is about the same.

Farmers Almanac?

The Farmer's Almanac goes back to about 1818. It was published 2 years after "The Year That Had No Summer", which was devastating to farmers.

It's published in Lewiston, Maine, and is famous for its long-range weather predictions and astronomical data, as well as its trademark blend of humor, trivia, and advice on gardening, cooking, fishing, and human interest. conservation, sustainable living, and simple living are core values.

Its readers claim that the Almanac has an 80%-85% accuracy in its weather prediction, which can go two years out. It says it uses both meteorology and astronomy in its weather predictions.
