Not liking the graphics on the C7R. Lots of offs and a lot of cars on track - 67 at the start!
Is Whelen fielding a Corvette prototype this year? :waiting:

Been down here camping since Thursday. Awesome racing so far and about 22 hours of awesome racing to go!
Unless they are holding something back, the Vettes seem to be getting destroyed on the oval. They pull up on the Vipers/Porsche/Ferrari in the infield and then fall back like a rock on the banking. Yay restrictors and yay weight breaks for the Viper camp. :ack:
On the other hand the Vette DPs have been rockets so far. The problem will be keeping them in 1 piece. Anybody watching at home know what happened to the Spirit of Daytona? I saw where it looked like a GT car came across the nose... did it get hurt?
Julian... I'll be sure to get those glowing rotor pics for you. :D

Hope he is okay. The announcers are getting a little choked up now...
Report is straight to the hospital...no infield care stop.

Word is not good on Gidley... was standing in the garage with the crew. They said alive, not responsive in the ambulance after they cut him out.
The 99 car was BAD. They brought both of them to a closed garage and immediately closed the doors with a police perimeter. Not a good sign.

Nope. They had the camera on the slowing Ferrari in real time so they broadcast the accident, then showed the front of the 99 car, but haven't shown it again. It looked bad.
Edit: It's already on Youtube.

Corvette Daytona Prototype (DP) cars leading in the first three positions overall and 1~3 in the Prototype class.
Corvette C7.R (#4) is third in GTLM class; #3 is behind the wall for the second time for an overheating problem and is next to last in class and 58th overall.
Hopefully #4 can get around the two Porsche 911 RSRs in front of it!!
Coming up on 5 hours to go

Yeah, Fox Sports 1 is carrying the coverage now so they cut off the online.

I'm watching it on FoxSports 1 now, Comcrap channel 114 (old SPEED). Haven't checked Imsa.com
I was watching it online last night, but it appears that ended at 7amEST. Now just on TV for full coverage.

Corvette Daytona Prototypes are still running 1-2-3 and 6th overall.
Corvette C7.R #4 is running second in GTLM class (and 8th overall) behind the Porsche 911 RSR (7th overall) by 11.4 seconds and ahead of the BMW Z4 GTE (11th overall) or 1.33 minutes.
Vipers are 5th and 6th in GTLM class and are running 15th and 16th overall.
Unfortunately #3 has been retired - probably with the heating problem it had been having earlier.
#4 corvette just pulled into the garage. :sadangel:

What in the hell took so long for that last caution?
and...that was a horrible penalty on the 555 Ferrari.

:iagree: That was a straight up BS call. The Ferrari was in the right.

1st, there was no contact. The officials need to know when they made a bad call.
2nd, I'm not so sure the Audi could even make the corner on that line at that speed. He obviously wasn't pushed off.

Seemed to be a lot more long cautions and BS calls during this years race. NASCAR putting their touch on the new series :kick: :slap:

Sounds like NFL referees are officiating the race.
When they threw the caution with 10 minutes left....for a car that was already pulling away and left nothing on the track...I was screaming. F'n NASCAR BS caution.

Tudor just posted that they rescinded the penalty. The Ferrari was given the win they earned.
Well....it only took them several hours NOT to fug-it-up.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Memo Gidley has been released from a hospital following three separate surgeries for injuries suffered in the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
Gidley was injured roughly three hours into the race Jan. 25. He had his first surgery at Halifax Health in Daytona Beach, Fla., to repair a broken left leg and left elbow.
A second surgery repaired a compression fracture in his lower back. The final surgery last week was to repair a fracture in his left heel.
He was discharged Thursday and was being medically transported via airplane to Northern California to begin his rehabilitation.
Gidley praised the care he's received at Halifax Health in a statement and said he will work hard on his recovery "for all the fans, friends and family who have been pulling for me since the accident."
