I have the chance to buy a brand new S&W SW9VE and a SW40VE both for $660 out the door. Is this a good deal, or about average? I currently have a 3rd Gen Glock 19. I love it but the S&W's are just damn pretty guns. A friend will give me $400 for the Glock that I have zero dollars in (traded my original Vette wheels for it), so in reality I'll only have less than $300 in both guns. Anyone own either of these, and if so, any comments? Thanks.

I think I'd keep the Glock. I can't see any advantage of the Sigma over a G19. The M&P would be another story. That is actually what I traded my G19 for.

It's either a clip or a magazine...Same thing.....Duh.

The clip is the springy metal thingy that holds a holster to your belt. The magazine is the flat, hollow metal piece that holds bullets (you know, the things that go "bang") and slides into the handle of the pistols.

I was actually looking for an intelligent answer. Put down the beer.

My thinking is that I'd have the two guns, one for the car & one for the house. Online is almost always cheaper, and I know the price dropped on the SW's recently. I have nothing in the Glock. I do enjoy shooting it though and am comfortable with it. Just curious about the SW's.

Sort of weird, but I did the same thing. In MA, you can't buy a Glock, it is considered evil and is banned. However, "pre-ban" Glocks that were registered in state or guns brought in by police or people that moved end up in the mix. They command a premium. A used G19 is worth about $500-$700. I listed mine for sale or trade and a guy offered me a fairly new M&P9 and an M&P9c. I paid $400 for the Glock years ago so I figured I would have two new guns for $400. I really liked the M&P9, its very ergonomic and just feels right. I was never in love with the Glock trigger or its grip angle but it was accurate and reliable.
I can see the 2 for 1 aspect, but I never liked the Sigma trigger, but then again, in MA they have a dreadful heavy pull. Have you dry fired the Sigma yet to see if you like it?
I am a big S&W fan, have had six or seven and they have excellent customer service and warranty policies and I have found the overall quality high.

The SW's have a heavier and longer trigger pull, but I figured I'd get used to that with practice. The trigger is stiffer, but I also like the angle of the handle and trigger on the SW's better. I like the Glock, don't have any issues with it (I've put at least 1800 rounds through it), but the S&W feels better in my hand. Ergonomically it is well designed and very comfortable. I can buy a new 4th Gen 19 for $529 at the same store. I am aware that the Glock is worth more and probably a better gun that either of them singly but the money isn't that big a deal. I would end up with $260 in both brand new guns with lifetime warranties.

I own both of those Smith guns. I like them both. The heavy trigger turned out to not be a problem when I shot them at the range.

I got them pretty cheap when a local store had a big promotional discount a couple of years back. On top of the discount, Smith had a $50 mail-in rebate which included a couple of extra magazines. I couldn't pass up the deal. I'm happy with them.

If you shoot them accurately, they would seem to be a good fit for you.

I'm thinking I may just get the 40 and keep the Glock. I do like it, and it seems the popular opinion is the Glock is a much better gun.

I did keep the Glock. I put 300 rounds through it today. I do love that gun!

But you also got the SW40VE, though, right? How do you like it?

Not yet. Friend that went with us today has a S&W 9mm, not the Sigma, but an older all steel version. It was heavy, didn't care much for it. He did really like my 19 though. His wife carries the Glock 40 for her duty weapon, and she likes it a lot.

Still debating the SW9VE, the M&P 9mm, or the SD9 series. I do like the way the SW9VE series feels in my hand, but opinion is the M&P is a much better gun. Of course, you know what they say about opinions. I love the 19 I have, but there are those who can't stand it.

Anyone shot the SD series yet? They're new. I saw them on the GT Distributors site.

I have shot the SD and shot it quite often actually.

A buddy of mine has it and upgraded from his Sigma to the "Self Defense" series.

The "SD" is a great gun. Its a very very good blend of Sigma and M&P. The Trigger is almost exactly in the middle of those two guns too.

I would much rather have the SD over the Sigma and i have a few sigmas still since i somehow find amazing deals on them and they are great guns in their own way but not gonna compete with Glock 19's or M&P's.

The best part of the SD is that it has the feel of the Sigma which is very very comfortable for most people.

I wouldn't get rid of a glock 19 and add 300 bucks for 2 sigmas. no way. The glock 19 is an amazing piece of machinery and im not a glock person. I prefer the M&P over any other polymer handgun out there. The M&P is amazing and the SD is pretty damn close.

That's why I liked the Sigma I looked at. I love the way it feels. Very comfprtable and stable. I'm thinking I will try to find a shop here with an SD9 in stock before I get anything else.
Oh, and I'm definately keeping the 19. I never liked the blocky look, but dayum it shoots good!
