This weekend starts off an 8 week series of racing with old school Fords (pre 70) and new Fords ('70s and up). The first two race weekends are in Spokane Washington, then heading back East to Michigan, Ohio and ending up in Maine. :drivingskid:

I only changed out the wheels and added weight to the Focus this time and only extra weight to the Mustang Fastback.

Interesting passion, which takes you all over the country to race Matchbox cars. :yesnod:

Interesting, yet admirable at the same time. Your form of racing vs. my form is CONSIDERABLY less expensive.

Cool cars.

Picked up a 3rd place finish in the old school run on Saturday with the Mustang. Lost the 1st heat, but came back on the lower double elimination bracket side for the finals.

The Focus ended up 4th in the new school runs last Sunday. We will have two more entries this week on a longer track run. Henry is on the left and Carroll on the right. These are some of Sloppies recent builds (30 years of 1:1 build experience) to fill out the brackets!

Last weeks short track Old School and New School winners battle it out. (The format is two consecutive wins - alternating lanes.)

do you actually travel to all the meets?

Is the race course permanently built? Appears to be constructed of HO scale slot car track.

Different permanent tracks at each location?

Are the entries sent, or do you bring them personally?

do you actually travel to all the meets?

No we dont travel normally. We mail the cars into the 1st host who sends them to the next and the last one returns them.

There was an event in Maryland this past weekend that a few local people did drive to though! They also invited the public to participate.

The one in the last video I posted is a permanent layout - some changes were made this year to that layout though. Is is mostly HO Scale track. I am not sure what the last straight away portion is made from. They do have two other road courses and a drag track that they alternate in their fantasy league races.

Most of the mail in tracks can be dis-assembled and moved around and are made of traditional Hot Wheels track or other similar drag track type layout materials. :cert:

Racing this weekend was at the Lincoln (NE) Johnny Lighting Race Club. They ran our series along with their club event. Some photos of their track...

This weeks race event is being held at an interesting track layout. The starting gate and finish line are linked to give you an ET. Some systems will also add your reaction time and give you a red light - if you jump the gun! Here is a video link to the track set up. Low and slow with over 18 feet of to travel after only a 9 inch acceleration drop.

What is your set up?
Glass table, with the main light on the car, and another with a green gel slightly behind.

This is the simplest set up I have seen (not mine). You can change paper colors or use gels.

Race week six is in the books! Both of my cars are holding steady, but the winning streak continues for TE and his black hot rod! Nice video and music track in this weeks runs.

Some cool cars there. The clean blue Pinto in the 5th pic is my favorite. :seasix:
