Regarding "Poughkeepsie...."
If it's pronounced Poo-kep-sie, why isn't it spelled "PooKEPsie?"
Also, why did they have the word "poo" in the name, if they aren't going to spell it like it sounds? Did they think they were fooling anyone?
That's about all for now.
You are allowed to keep all the poo you make there.
I don't know how, but I guess these folks do..........:D

Years back they had a couple of big mental hospitals down there. Its name then The Hudson River State Hospital (Lower NYS)
Some common sayings (Slurs) around the Albany area were in reference to that.

Poe-Kip-see is how we pronounced it in Upstate (Syracuse) area.
Poe as in Edgar Allen Poe.
I recall a friend of my Brother-in-Law who was from there.
That's how he pronounced it too.

Interesting, I never heard it pronounced that way. I do remember lots of jokes about No. and So. White streets.
I was playing on the rock station from the area in case any locals know PDH. It's a pretty good rock station that also has awesome gag commercials and phone pranks.
