Why did they scrap it like that?
Reminds me of when the local PD bring a truck load of guns to our foundry to be melted down. Buy backs, closed cases, etc...sometimes there are some pretty nice firearms getting tossed into that furnace

Just tootless dumb****s being dumb****s....
Hood, spoiler, nose, wheels, brakes, tailights, rearfascia, doors, rear glass, exhaust...alone, if removed...were worth at least 20,000 bucks...
not even considering the V10, 6 speed, rearend, etc...
2nd Gen like that, even if it was a fire car and was all burnt under the hood ,shoulc have parted out around 35K...

Probably totaled by insurance, and ordered to scrap.

Gotta wonder about the asshole who seemed to think it was funny.
Even if it was "scrap order," a lot of parts could have been detoured.
Lots of $$$. Lots...
With all the people standing around filming the destruction, I would imagine that there was at least one rep there to ensure that the car was completely destroyed.

Reading the comments, it appears to be an engineless, VIN-less training car donated to a tech school which requires destruction when they are done with them. Back when I was racing, we used to see really cool concept cars at the Super Chevy Shows. They all get destroyed at the end of their tour as they have no VIN. Pretty wasteful and stupid.

The manufacturers always put a VIN on them. The prototype and test mules have certain codes ( I think GM starts with "X" ) and they're stamped "not for public sale".
My buddy's shop caged a GM C5 test mule about 3 years before the C6 came out for them to test the C6 components. That VIN started with a X.
