I dont know what it is but I love them dang things. Perhaps I'm compensating for something. Perhaps I dig power. Maybe I'm a damn redneck.

Tell me why.

If I had to guess, compensating...definitely not a redneck. ;)

easier to just toss them out in the front yard and see if they leave on their own or want to stay.

Just let me win. I'll keep an eye on them...

I am not a gun collector, but over the past 40 years the number of guns I own has increased. I now have about 15 shotguns, 10 rifles, and 6 hand guns. I just can't bring myself to get rid of any of them, even though I rarely fire any of them. I have one shotgun that I bought about 10 years ago that I have never fired.

A gun is always welcome to find a home with me. After awhile though, I had to thin things down. Rifles down to 54 after 76 peak. 16 handguns and 1 shotgun. Started at 12 yrs old and only sold to invest in better ones. A lot of ww1 and ww11, Viet Nam and later era. Some old Winchester levers, old .22's
and all are shooters. Started highpower match shooting with 1903 Springfield, went to M1 Garand and finally M1a/M14(fell in love with those in Basic Training). Lotta' satisfaction with guns and others who enjoy them. :seasix:

ps, Combat was a great show!

for me; holding a gun gives me the same positive feelings as when I view a picture like this:

I never owned "a" gun. My first purchase was two Browning Buckmark pistols, and then nothing for months, then a S&W 1911, then a Ruger 1022 and within a few years, 40-something other guns. I realized after a bit that I always shoot the same guns so I started thinning out the herd, selling off a few here and there. I am in the minority of people that actually sells guns but I'd rather not have a safe full of stuff I occasionally dust off. If I haven't shot a gun in three years, it goes.

Grew up with firearms, feel very comfortable owning, firing, trading, or selling. Like your favorite autos, get around a group of gun nuts, you will always have something to talk about. Firearms are an investment as well, I don't collect gold or silver, but firearms are close.$$$$$$$$.

I don't collect gold or silver, but firearms are close.

I've bought and sold quite a few.. and have NEVER lost a dollar on one.

I guarantee that if you look at 10 year levels, ammo specifically has a higher rate of return than a vast majority of stocks out there. If I decided to sell out now at fair prices (not the crazy markup stupidity) I guarantee that even counting all that I have shot for fun, I would still easily be up 200%-300% of my investment over the last decade... if not much more.

I bought my first handgun in 1983 at 22 yrs. old. It was a Benelli B76 9mm. Right now I only have two rifles and a half dozen handguns. This time last year I had four rifles, a shotgun, and a dozen handguns. I've thinned them out, but have much higher quality. My good gun was a Glock and now it's a Colt. My cheap guns were the likes of Jennings, Phoenix and a Titan. Now the least expensive ones I have are a Ruger SR22 (nib, unfired), a 90's AMT 9mm, and my little pocket buddy (Kahr CM9). I probably traded a dozen or so firearms around this year (and close to that many cars!). It's a hobby that pays for itself.:seasix:
