70-year-old beaten while trying to slow neighborhood cars | wtsp.com (http://www.wtsp.com/news/topstories/article/350624/250/70-year-old-beaten-while-trying-to-slow-down-cars-in-his-neighborhood)
Bradenton, Florida - A 70-year-old man pushing his wife in a wheelchair with his granddaughter by his side says he was beaten for trying to slow a car down in his neighborhood.
It happened around 6:00 p.m. Friday night along 60th Ave. Drive West in Bradenton.
All James Gorman wanted was for a car speeding down the road to slow down. That car ended up stopping, and what happened next would end up putting James Gorman in the hospital.
"That's a thumb in the eyeball," says James Gorman, who lives in West Bradenton.
Gorman's black eye is just the start. He has a torn rotator cuff, broken glasses, and pounding headaches.
They're all injuries he says he got while trying to protect the kids in his neighborhood.
"I stepped up to slow him down," says Gorman.
He didn't want kids to get hit, but he was the one that got beaten.
"He grabbed my hands and proceeded to beat the daylight out me. He knocked me out," says Gorman.
Gorman says the men responsible are two black males in their 20s.
"They are about scummiest things I've ever seen," says Gorman. "It takes two young men to beat up a 70-year-old man," he says.
A 70-year-old man who says although his glasses may be broken and his head may be bruised, his courage hasn't been punctured.
Now, even late at night, kids are playing out on the street and that's all James Gorman wanted -- for them to be safe.

I'm sure they are fine young conservatives too.

He's racist for pointing out that 2 blacks beat him.

their punishment will be...
free cell phones
increased food stamps
free section 8 housing
free healthcare
free college assistance
multiple pre-filled-out ballots for the next general election
all given, while the non-thug working men & women are forced to pay for it all.

Here's an idea. If you want kids to be safe and not to get hit by cars, stop letting them play in the f**king street.
And no, I am in no way justifying or agreeing with beating up an old man... or anybody for that matter.

You don't want people flying down the street whether the kids are on the street or on the sidewalk.

While that is indeed very true...

Yea, If there is nothing missing from this story, the 2 idiots who beat up an old man should have been shot. No doubt.
But I have a question. Were they actually speeding? How fast? How did he stop them?
"I stepped up to slow him down," says Gorman.
What does that mean? Did the old man jump out in front of a car? If that's the case, I would probably be pretty pissed myself if someone jumped out in front of me and started pitching a fit... not punch an old man in the face pissed, but certainly enough to tell him to f**k off. Could he have instigated the incident?
As I posted in a different thread...
Every day my drive home from work includes an obstacle course of balls, bikes, random toys, and children playing in the street, especially in the summer. 1 kid was already hit about 6 months ago. Thankfully he just went up on the hood of the car with no injury. Not too long ago, I came about 2 feet from running over a kid who came flying down a hill and around a corner right in front of me. If I wasn't already going well below the speed limit dodging the other kids, I have ZERO doubt that it would have been a horrendously terrible outcome when my big diesel truck met a small kid on a big wheel.
To top it off, the super bitch of a mother had the nerve to try to yell at ME for almost hitting her kid and that I needed to slow down. ... I was going about 15mph in a 25mph zone.
Where cars are driving, kids shouldn't be playing. Period.

You are absolutely correct. :yesnod:
But as I've seen in my life, personal responsibility is fading away

PLus we get to pay for thier illigitimate kids.
And to the poster about him "Jumping out" in front of a speeding car. Ifni the OP is states he was pushing his wifes wheel chair with his granddaughter by his side. I strongly doubt , at 70, he could "Jump out" doing that.

:iagree:
I can't tell how many times I ve been yelled at by people in my old neighborhood to slow down. Speed limit was 25 I usually cruised at 20, due to old people in golf carts not seeing or hear you coming and just bolt across the street so they can get to the next hole on the golf course. It was always an old men yelling at me. They have nothing better to do. I yelled back at one guy to got get a radar gun if thought I was going too fast.
Not condoning what was done to the old guy who was beaten, but if there has been speeding through there, call the non emergency number for police make a few complaints the police will come set up in there and bust people. People need to stop taking the law in their own hands, It has ended badly for someone more often then good.
If the guy jumped in front of a moving car, then maybe he deserved to get beaten up....as a wake up call that jumping in front of a moving car is a bad idea in general.
If the old guy wants to enforce the law, he should go all Sea Six and sign up for the police academy, then get hired as a reserve officer so he can harass motorists to his heart's content.
When I was little, the lesson was concise and clear: stay out of the ****ing road. That's for cars, not for kids. What happened to that simple truism?
