Had a meeting with my regional Vice President today. It went very well, discussed my future with they company, and my future aspirations with the company put me in our world headquarters in Richman in little over a year. So my questions are. What's the city like? Lots of entertainment? Crime? Weather?
Any thing I need to know about the city?
Thanks in advance

My sister-in-law lives in Charlottesville, about an hour away. Great area. We like driving over to Richmond for the Tobacco Company Restaurant. :seasix:
Good luck in moving up the ranks.

:seasix: I wasn't positive it was Richmond or not.
I visited the city. It didn't seem very big or crowded like Atl. or other cities. I wouldn't want to live in the city, but outside of it are some nice 'burbs. I guess the thing that surprised me is that is just seems small and less developed compared with others.

Even though it is the state capitol the majority of the population in the state is centered in Northern Virginia (NoVA) in and around Washington D.C.

Outskirts of Richmond, are one of the few places I am considering relocating. It snows about once every 10-15 years, and there are lots of wide open spaces still available.
North of the river, I would not live.

The downtown nightlife isn't bad, just don't stray too far. Lots of land available as well not too far away. Guru lives around there, so if he posts here he might be able to provide more info. Great soul food places in that area as well. Traffic is far superior to D.C.'s

Good to know about the traffic. How are the roads. Vette friendly? Any Autox or race clubs in or around. Obviously NASCAR is popular there.

All the tax money (or 80c/dollar) reportedly stays in Richmond, so lots of great roads. Of course, some are toll roads, I have found.
One of the best times I ever had swimming, was in the James River :leaving:

Native Virginian speaking up here. Stay south/southwest of the city. The closer you get to DC, the worse it is. I am a native hillbilly, (grew up between Roanoke and Bristol on the I-81 corridor) and don't like cities at all. That being said, get a beater with a heater and put the miles on. Unless you like paying out the ass for everything, then Richmond will not be for you. Please learn to spell it before you get there or Jefferson Davis will rise from the grave and kick your ass. Charlottesville is nice, but UVa is there and big money is everywhere. Prepare to pay. I haven't been to anyone of those areas in years, and have zero desire to go back. Depending on your situation though, you might like it. Back in the mountains where I grew up, job situations are dismal at best. It stinks because the scenery is beautiful.
