I tried to delete my post that showed up as #1 but since the forum sees it as the first post, deleting it deletes the whole thread.
So....
Scroll down for the REAL first post.
A bunch of the guys we get together with (not really a club) have had a car show they've done for 3 years and June will be the 4th. The money goes to the Marines for Toys for Tots. This thing is a blast if your into that. I will also be going to the Lone Star Classic again this year at Texas Motor Speedway. A bunch of us get rooms at the same hotel there. Man that's fun weekend.
Was wondering if any of you guy do that, or if any of you will be at the LSC this year.

I did about 10 the first year I bought my car. Now I do 3, the 3 I really enjoy the people and the facility.
Found a new one last year that was really cool. Corvette club puts it on, but it's open to all cars- those are the best.
After all, most Corvette owners are snobs with little weewees.
This is it, with the centerpiece being a Car Wax companies garage.

There's two or three here in Central Ohio I try to make it to each year.
Got burned out doing one every other weekend or so.
I used to love car shows. I took my 95 to over 40 shows and won 15 trophies. I lost respect for shows because the club I belong to cheated. The gave out trophies to Vettes that were not even close to the competition. These people gave the NCCC guy there for 2nd place and his Vette wasn't even clean. He went there to moderate and "won".
I stopped participating in car shows and quit the Corvette Club. They drove too damn slow anyway.

I like attending shows, but I do not own show worthy cars, usually. I'll take a brand new car 140 mph across the mojave desert during sand storm season, or drive off course into gravel on a track...I do keep them clean, but even my '08 has two or three chips, a replaced windshield and been hit by road gators twice.

Me too, I've got a snoballs chance in hell of winning anything. But for $20 you get a really good parking spot. And we have so many donated door prizes that literally everyone gets something back. I bought a new set of Nitto Envos for my C6 last year for $500 and a $400 tune for $20 on a silent auction. Also, good opportunity for a photo shot.

I don't know, but it's a neat trick. Use it to your advantage :o_o:
I enjoy Cruise-ins alot better then car shows. The guys at the Cruise ins aren't out to win anything so we just admire each others cars and stand around an talk about cars. This is alot more fun for me...There are usually alot of a--holes at car shows and alot of guys winning because they know the right people....:)....WW

I don't do car shows myself, but I do attend some of them. I take the vette and and park and then go look around. I seldom even tell anyone I have a vette.
But I do appreciate what they do for the hobby of vettes and cars.

Car shows are okay but i'd rather go cruising or watch autocross races. car shows at race tracks are cool though, where you can talk to mechanics and autobody guys and learn.

I enjoy attending car shows. I like seeing all the other cars and meeting other car people. I don't get radically serious about it because I think that takes the fun out of it. I don't go to win - although I do sometimes.
Can't wait for spring for the shows to begin again.

Bring the Ghost for Sunday and put it in. There's a 'Vette' Chorral. I won in 08 over 10 other C4s- but was quite embarrassed when I won in 09 as there were only 2 of us. 1 'Modified' and 1 'Stock'. Need to show some C4 pride!

The Ghost's paint is not show quality. But, misdirection may work, once I open the hood the countless mods may direct eyes away from the paint.:D
I'll put that Huntington Beach show on my list, and can't beat a day at the beach.

A buddy of mine owns the H.A.C.K. Shack (http://www.thehackshack.net/)and he has a FactoryFive '33 Ford (http://www.thehackshack.net/FACTORY%20FIVE%2033%20HOT%20ROD%20BUILD.htm)that he shows (and is for sale). I go to a couple with him every year.
I like going to a few shows but my only problem is that I usually go with GB and his super show car and we end up parking next to each other and then everyone comes to drool over his car and uses my car as a bench.
I think I prefer the mixed shows over the corvette only shows as there is more variety of cars as well as people. All those hawaiian shirts and gold watches at the vette shows make me feel awkward.

Yeah, thats what I was talking about. Mine is a turd compared to many of them. But I like being able to park in the action. Usually our local smaller shows give the money to charities too. So I register for that reason alone.

Sounds good, Pete, I will pencil it in. Santa Barbara has a nice car show, where they close down the streets. It is open to anyone. I have been to shows in Solvang and San Luis Obispo just for the drive up PCH. :D

Got the 94 to drive....
Show the 67 FB a couple times a year and usually win something. :D
I don't do shows anymore. I drive the car to them, look around, say hello to some friends then go drive it for a while and be with the family. I get more pleasure out of seeing my son's face in the car then I do trying to win a cheap trophy.

I hear that, with us all our youngsters have moved on to do their own thing. So we enjoy meeting the new crowd. We may grow tired of it but for now it's putting us back into the social scene. It's either that or hang out at the local swanky bar.

Larry, I would love to do a run up to San Luis Obispo via Solvang country roads but, thats an overnighter mandatory. I drove up to Solvang couple of times and I had a blast. Those are great scenic drives!!

I've made every one so far! I'll keep coming as long as I can keep a corvette driving to make it. I don't do a lot of shows because my car isn't show quality. I usually show up to see friends and cars. If the money is going to a cause I like I'll go ahead and enter to show off my old busted '85.
