Name the one person you'd like to watch football with.

I'd like to watch a game with Sean Payton. Smart and can tell me all the details of a play.

I got the amazing honor to watch an Illinois football game with Dick Butkis, and it was everything you think it would be.

I would love to watch a game with Troy Aikman, because I'd love to hear the thought process that QB's go through at that level.

Sofia Vergara. Since I am in Houston , it would take my mind off losing.

If she signs up for that, let me know, I'm coming over too.

Ken Stabler. Hopefully he would bring the half dozen or so beautiful young chicks he seems to have with him whenever I've seen him.

Been there, done that. He's too drunk to be that entertaining.

Yeah, but I'd be drunk, too. Actually he's been pretty sober whenever I've met him. Nice guy, too.

You must have caught him on a very good day. He used to own a bar in Gulf Shores, Alabama. You could see him there on any night of the off-season drunk on his ass. Then, when it was time to go to pre-season practice, he would sober up and in two weeks be in shape and ready to play. Damndest thing I ever saw.

I rode in his cigarette boat in Gulf Shores one night. I really did have a plaque on the dash that read, "Sit down. Shut up. Hold on.".

Oh, yeah, during his playing days, he drank like crazy. He even says in his book that often when you saw him play, you were seeing a guy that had been up all night drinking.

I've met him more recently, the first time in 2001. He signed autographs and filmed some commercials at the Chevrolet dealership I worked at. He's probably slowed it down a bit. He still jokes about it, though. I saw him at a golf tournament, where his foursome finished last. He said it was because they put him in charge of curfew.:D

Is his restaurant (Lefty's?) still there? or was it wiped out by the several hurricanes that have been through there.

Sad thing is that his knees must be in really bad shape and cause him lots of pain. You could see it in his walk back in 2001. He moved like a 90 year old man.

Although I don't know for sure, I'd guess that his bar in Gulf Shores is long gone. It was well prior to 2001 that I saw him. BUT...I'll bet that he doesn't regret a thing about those days!

Lefty' sis long gone, but he still hangs out down here quite a bit. I see him once or twice a year, but it's getting less frequent to see him out.

I have a fuel rail cover hanging on my wall from my long gone C6 that he autographed with a silver sharpie. He's a Corvette guy and he knew what it was when I handed it to him.

Same here. But for pure fun and laughs, your post reminded me of what fun it would be to watch a game with the late Art Donovan.

We hired a recent grad who played for Georgia Tech. We asked him to watch a game with a bunch of us and talk about his perspectives. It hasn't happened yet but I hope we work that out soon.

The biggest difference you're going to find is that you watch the ball, he watches everything else.

Those of us who have had to sit through hundreds of hours of film study watch the game different. I remember one time a reporter came in to talk to our coach, and asked him to watch a few plays with him. I don't recall what the reporter said, but coach said, "Oh, you're like my mom, you only watch the ball."

I would have said Belichick but I don't think he would say a word throughout the game.

That's what it's like watching with my brother. He's pretty good at picking up defensive schemes (he was a middle linebacker) and rarely gets caught off guard by the penalty calls.

It's fun watching football with guys like that.

You would love watching football at my house with me and my brothers.

Not only is there a position by position break down of every play, but we're constantly berating each other. It has scared off many who have been with us.
