IMO Dio is the best metal singer. Got see him live with his band in 83 and with Black Sabbath in 80.:cert:

(....but yeah, Dio rocks (well, rocked). Saw the Holy Diver tour. Wow! What a show. RIP, Ronnie.)

I like his voice also. Saw The Scorpions in 88. It was a good show.:cert:

It's not supposed to make sense for crying out loud. All I know is Poppa been smooth since days of Underroos.

Some great singers mentioned. A few favorites that come to mind first.

Paul Di'Anno
Bruce Dickinson
Rob Halford
Dio
Ian Gillan
Graham Bonnet (hardish rock)

Plenty of newer talent not mentioned out there like the vocalists for Slipknot, Korn etc. I'm just not a big fan of their music.

Perhaps Bonn Scott was a better lyricist than a singer, but I think he deserves a mention...

I'd put AC/DC in the hard rock category (not metal), just like Heart.....but I could be nitpicking. Scott still had some chops, though.

Almost listed Bon because of how unique his sound was. A perfect fit for their music. He was one crazy, bellicose little bastard though.

:iagree: Heavy metal? I 'm on the fence with AC/DC. I don't think they are, but they were a huge influence on my HS behavior. :D

Hey, Sebastian Bach had a kick-ass voice in his day...it just wasn't a very long day. The first two Skid Row records are a must have for any 80s head banger.
