It seems to be a happy medium for price and performance as compared to the bargain Vizio. :island14:
Thanks!

We have a 60" LCD Sharp LC-60LE81. Very happy with it so far.
I have a similar model, the LC70LE750U.
Its not a bad tv but I miss having a Samsung. The interface was better. Overall, I'm happy with it.

How did the picture compare? You say interface, have you sync'd it with a smart phone?

I have the 60", great TV. Picture in HD is unreal. Have mine hooked up to a nice Yamaha 7 channel system. Best TV I've owned.

Just menus and options. Samsung was way better at this. I don't think I have the option of syncing it with my smartphone. Picture is fine. I used CNET's settings and it came out pretty decent.

It's in! It's huge, it's replacing a 42" dumb tv. Honestly the smart tv features are cool, but a $35 chrome cast and a laptop can do all that and more.
I never could get my phone to sync to the tv even though it's supposed to, I'll have to play with the network later.
As for the picture, ive streamed a few things from natl geographic, but I haven't played any blurays on it yet. The picture is stunning and vibrant, although it can get a little too dark, I had to brighten the picture up a bit. Overall I'm pretty pleased, even got Karen to admit she liked it.

The smart TV's are nice and all but if you have an iPhone or iPad the AppleTV brick makes watching web content a lot easier and better than the other methods. I did get a video browser app on my iPad that will play web content from pretty much any site to the Samsung smart TV, just tested it out about 5 minutes ago with the Godzilla trailer as a matter of fact. But I like the way AirPlay does it to the Apple TV much better. With the app, the video plays on the iPad and also streams it to the TV but they play asynchronously, and the normal volume controls on the side of the iPad do nothing. With AirPlay the iPad's screen goes essentially dark, and audio is muted automatically.
But, it's looking more and more like even Apple devices will work nicely with the smart TV's as long as there is a decent app available.

January 1st. :yesnod: I'll be sending facebook invites shortly. I need to figure out the times of the various bowls. But we'll start with hair of the dog (probably mimosas), and go through the UCF game. :yesnod:
I'll be inviting the usuals :yesnod: We're still working on whether or not we're going to fill the keg. Probably just grill burgers or wings for lunch and order BBQ for dinner as opposed to trying to cook anything :seasix:
Be there...bring the babies.
The games start at 11am, 12pm, 4pm and the last is the 7:30pm UCF Game
I'll have at least 3 tvs set up to watch three of the four concurrent games during the day. A 4th TV is possible, but I'm not so sure I care about the Heart of Dallas Bowl featuring UNLV vs. North Texas

Really couldn't care less about "smart TVs". The TV is an expensive monitor. Just needs to have inputs and the best display possible.
I don't want to have to upgrade TVs to get new app technologies. I'd rather upgrade an Apple TV, ChromeCast, Roku, XBox, PlayStation, etc...
I know some people love it and don't want the extra boxes...just doesn't make sense to me.

If you want to buy one, I'd recommend Paul's TV. I've bought several and they were always great to deal with.
Having said that, I'd be real careful dumping money into a big 1080 set right now. The new 4K standard is already for sale and will be coming down drastically in price over the next 12 months. They are really expensive now, but 4K sets will be all the rage next year for Christmas gifts.

1080 sets were out for about 5 years before I bought one. I only bought one when DirecTV put up two new satellites that shortly thereafter provided about 160 HD channels. Before that there just wasn't enough content to justify having one. Same with the 4k sets. I won't bother until there is plenty of 4k content.

And DirecTV is probably 2 years away from their first 4K channels and I'd bet 3-4 years away from having enough that it becomes a "must have" for me.

I am all for a 4k tv, and really am looking forward to it becoming the standard. This size 1080p just came down enough to my price range, this year, it'll still be another 5-10 years before I can justify the cost of not only a new 4k but the DVD player and game system and such to boot. I don't expect to be on the 4k band wagon until there's a game system or standard set up computers that easily will play in 4k. :yesnod: Last night I told my wife this'll be the last 1080 tv we're going to be buying.

I've found the absolute best tool to set up screen and audio can be found on the Pixar disks in the Tools or Settings area. I use the Finding Nemo disk, and the results are very noticeable!

These settings from CNET helped guide me to where I wanted it. Its not for the exact model but it comes real close.

I came home a few weeks ago to find my 10 year old daughter measuring our TV.
I asked what she was doing.
She wanted to see if our TV was bigger than the one our paster has. She said his was 68". He's a bit of a TV addict...
Ours is 60".
I explained to my wife that I had no desire to upgrade until that happened. It's a really nice 60".
Suddenly I was pricing the 70" Sharp Aquos on Amazon. :willy:
A guy at work has 6-7 65" tvs in his man cave. I only have one television. It made me feel sad

Congratz on the tv.
Here is my view on the tv settings.
It all depends if youare stting it up to be true to life or not.
Setting up the colors to be as close to reality can be boring to a lot of people.
TV is like a watching a fantasy and is generally a lot more vivid then real life.
As a test put a movie or tv show on and have your kid stand next to the tv. You will quickly see the difference.
The important thing is to take it off torch mode(vivid) that they normally come with.
If you see purple or floating greens in dark scenes your contrast or gamma is messed up. A quick fix is to put it in movie or theater mode. 99% of the time Theater or movie mode is the best preset setting on the tv.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that the new Samsung 50" smart TV I recently hung up in our bedroom didn't need much of anything done to the video settings. The factory setting was actually pretty much what I would have set it to. I tweaked a few things and tried the various modes and ended up setting it pretty much where it was to start with.

When watching tv, I really like the bright and vibrant settings. but last night playing with those settings while watching a movie those modified settings were amazingly life like. I'll have to play with the various settings, I suspect i'll have a few different preferences depending on what I'm watching.

If you have a built in tuner on the tv do a channel search and see if yo can pull in an uncompressed OTA High Def feed.
I had one of the first real 1080p tvs years ago. An HP5880n I think it was. To my surprise it had a built in OTA tuner and after I did a search I was receiving uncompressed OTA signals. It was the time of the Olympics and the feed was absolutely stunning.
In my opinion I still haven't seen an image compare to what that tv put out.
I miss that set.
