I had FTD for most of the day at a 59.5. Beat the car owner by 8/10ths. LOVE the car, fun as hell to drive.

A hot shoe with a small budget, and usually on street tires, broke out his brand new Hoosiers in his hopped up MR2 Spyder and turned a 58.4. Prick. :lol:

FAST ASS'ED little car. Kudos for sure. I might even run next season in his car. Unfortunately, his car is NOT competitive on the national level in SSM. As such, I got absolutely devoured in the Pro (pax) class today. 6th. To have won, I would have had to run a 57.0. Car would have needed another 100 HP to pull that off. Mechanical grip is off the charts. :yesnod:

This was a 59.6. The kids starting the camera messed up every single one of my runs, but this one. Once I figured out the car, I ran a 59.6, 59.7, then 59.5, but you get the picture. With such a tight grouping, my best run would look the same to you on video.

The intention all along was/is to put her in the Z06. After all, she's trying to get the Buick Scholarship to get into Mechanical/Automotive Engineering. Kicking ass in a GM car vs. a Miata may carry some weight in that endeavor. That being said, this car is an absolute blast to drive, and I'm sure she'll be able to turn some laps in it as well starting in July.

I even looked at a 125cc Kart yesterday as well. While I love racing my Corvette, a properly setup Miata would munch virtually any car in this sport, other than an RX7. SSM RX7's on the National Level are running close to 500 HP. This little bugger only has 210 at the wheels. BUT, it's cheap as hell to operate, compared to my Z06.

You can certainly feel the cones you hit in the Miata compared to the Z06. It's a MUCH more intimate encounter.

I swear to God, I can run 10 MPH faster in the slaloms in the Miata than I can in my Z06. That effing car is nimble as hell. :yesnod:

My lap 1 to 2 dropped by 1.2 seconds. Lap 2 to 3 dropped by 6 tenths. Last three were .6, .7, .5 (meaning tight grouping, no drop)

With more seat time, I think I could have dropped the best time by at least .5

That still would not have been enough for the MR2. :sadangel:

Then again, that dude weighs 130 pounds. I weigh 285. These little cars kill a guy my size.

Looks like you were really moving out there! In a naturally aspirated Miata, that extra 150lbs is over a second in time.

We ran this track in June, and I was FTD in both RAW and PAX in my Z06, and today I was only 2nd in RAW. That being said, I swear to God, I was 10 MPH faster in the slaloms in this car.

Miatas are quickly written off as ghey cars, but Mazda has chassis configuration figured out. If you compare my vid vs. the car owner vid, it's not even close. I am on the rev limiter sooner and longer than he is. To all the haters, that little Miata will smoke most "tough guy" street cars. :yesnod:

Most of the time I'm looking left or right out of the sides. I could do most of my driving looking down through the glass when I was going forward. The windshield brace across the top, was certainly a distraction.

As someone that races a miata regularly, I would say:

That roll bar is a joke. Even with the owner, the height is way too low.

I have no idea how the seat was mounted, but you can get WAY lower in the car.

If you need a wing for the aero, then you definitely need a hard top. Otherwise, it's just a ricer attachment.

And yes, we regularly embarrass the big bore guys that don't know how to drive.
