RIP Edward "Babe" Heffron

Just saw today (thanks Gail :)) that Edward "Babe" Heffron who was 1 of the soldiers portrayed in Band Of Brothers died on the 1st @ 90 years old.

The sad part is that some drugged up singer or actor ODs and it's all we hear about, flags are flown at half mast, and even our wonderful president makes a statement giving his condolences, yet someone like this passes and the only source is a small military based internet group 3 days after the fact.

As a paratrooper in Company E, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, Private Heffron joined Easy Company shortly after the Normandy invasion and participated in some of the war’s fiercest battles, including the Battle of the Bulge in Belgium. He received a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart

:iagree: Not a lot of them talk about it either. A family friend Carl was a decorated Marine and was in some very intense battles. Earned a Purple Heart on Okinawa.

Speaking of Easy Company, we recently lost McClung also. Perconte died this year as well. Wild Bill Guarnere and Donald Malarkey are still on this side of the sod.
