Man punched over cellphone during movie
Woman, 71, hits moviegoer whose phone wouldn't stop ringing
UPDATED 10:20 AM EST Nov 19, 2013
A 71-year-old Florida woman is accused of punching a fellow moviegoer whose cellphone wouldn't stop ringing.
Annette Dimon was watching "12 Years a Slave" at the Royal Palm cineplex in Bradenton last week when the man's phone "began ringing several times," according to a police report obtained by The Smoking Gun.
She kicked the back of 38-year-old Jean Pierre Louis' seat in protest.
When he stood up and turned around, Dimon "pushed his shoulder" and "struck his face," according to the police report.
When questioned by authorities, Dimon claimed Pierre Louis had hit her hand away when she reached toward him.
Pierre Louis told police he "did not want an 'old lady' to go to jail and just wanted an apology," according to the police report.
Dimon subsequently apologized, and Pierre Louis agreed not to press charges.
