Anyone here play Dominoes? Over the years, mainly back when i still had some family, one of the games we played over the holidays when we got together was dominoes. My Great uncle was the master, he usually won, he had a knack for knowing with some accuracy what everyone had. When I was 16 I was finally allowed to participate in this all important game. It took a couple years but I finally got good at it...Infact, I got so good at it, my family stopped playing...
Im not sure how I picked it up, but..I can mentally count dominoes, and remember what people dont have, based on what scoring opportunities they have had and didnt play, what I have, and whats been played...
It also got to the point where I could lock 90% of the games up within 5 hands (playing 6/6)...and go out, racking up big points. Often Id be at 1000 points before my closest competitor had 300-400.
The game meant alot to me, family, closeness, it was also the first time my out of town cousins took me seriously..they always felt like that was their game and no one else could play it like they could...
I miss playing that game, whipping bitches and taking names...

An old guy recently told me a method for cheating at Dominoes that he learned years ago.
Now I don't even play Dominoes, but here is what he told me - When he would select a Dominoe that was a valuable one to pick, (double 6? double blank? I don't know) he would mark the back side of it by having some skin oil from the side of his nose on his pinky and using it to put a small shiny spot on the back of the Dominoe. This gave him an advantage when selecting the Dominoes when they were face down. You can get as elaborate as you want in marking them or just settle for a slight advantage by marking one or two of them. As with all cheating, the secret is to not get too greedy.
I don't play, so I've never tried this, but I can see how it would work.

This is something Ive heard of before, and I often found myself thinking that one certain dominoe was more valuable than the rest, however, it was getting out of this mindset that really allowed me to up my game to another level.
Something I like to do..lets say I get...(3) different 5dots dealt to me..and its my turn to go down. LEtssay I have the 5/5, 5/2 and 5/ blank.
I could get 10 quick if i play the 5/5..but I DONT. I play somethign unrelated ti 5's...I have 3 of 7 in the field..more than ony other person using the odds. So lets lay down..Blank/4. And the next person has to play a blank, or 4. So lets say..the 3rd playe,r lays down a 5/3? I now know where 4 of 7 are located...this gives me substantil power. But I do not play on the 5 if I can help it..on my turn. I force someone else to play on it..which will reveal..5 of 7. Eventually, Im forced to play one of them, and if possible..not the 5/5. So lets say the 5/3 is played as above, and someone plays on the 3...then someone else plays on the other end, like..3/2. So I play my 2/5...and force the 6th dominoe out of hiding...I play my 5/5...and if the other end is locked up, or tightened down..the last 5 will be played..at which time..im the only player that can play on 5's..I can then if possible play my other dominoes (5's) on available open ends, and completely lock it up. I get the combined total of all unplayed dominoes, plus the rounded up total of the end dominoes as I go out..Easily worth 60=75 points if done right.
Its confusing to explain...
Whats really fun, is playing someone else who has a powerful hand..like..3-4 of one number....and finding out early on (through their passed plays), and sticking them with the double 4, 5, or 6...
