In a deathmatch between Chamberlain and Genie, who wins? What do you use and what features do you like? Keyless entry (keypad)? HomeLink? Smartphone integration?

I love my wall mount units
Well I put 2 Genies in my old house in 1988 and their still working fine as of last year. Only service was a battery change in one remote.
Put 2 Genies in this new house in 04 and both are working fine. Have the rolling code feature.
All four were easy to install and simple to program

My old ones are noisy as hell. Going to look into this one. I realllly like the idea of getting rid of the overhead motor assembly.

I'd love to read more about them but the Wall Mount pages are 404. :confused5:

I'm intrigued as well. I assume they have the same lifting power as the overhead motor models...

Sears, chain drive.....the noise is in the door itself....
they used to cost 150 bux, and last for years.....and ours gets HEAVY usage, like at least a dozen times a day up and down.....

I have used a genie for 17 years with no problem.
Craftsman.
I've been in this house 30 years, and only replaced the opener once (about 15years ago). remote keyless entry on the outside door jamb, Sentry security link in the Chrysler, remote opener in my Ford and Corvette. No smartphone here. My old Blazer had a built-in keyless remote too. Can't believe my Escape Limited doesn't.
Now, some professional stuff;
My son-in-law installs doors and openers for a living.
He and his Dad (business owner) sell Lift Master and Craftsmen exclusively, but will p[urchase and install whatever the customer wants (at a premium of course)

Yeh, I have replaced 2-3 garage doors, all of them double wide, 2 car if you will...'-).....
let alone accounumated many a sears opener for spare parts, thinking I would need them one day...well it's been about a dozen years, not needed YET....
IF you can buy your own doors to replace that old wooden rotten crap, you are FAR ahead of the game....cost maybe 300 bux total....plus maybe a day of work...no biggie....mine ran 200 bux total for the door itself...but it was some time ago, and in cheeeeeep ole Jax Florida, I not quoting NYC prices here now....

At this point, I'm fairly certain it will be some sort of Chamberlain/LiftMaster. We had a LiftMaster in the previous house and I liked it. One of the remotes might have been sketchy but everything worked when and how it should.

Wtf did he just say? :leaving:
After having the Genie Excelerator (?) for years, I would never get one without the "Fast-Up" feature.
Liftmaster on all three doors for over 5 years with no issues. Really like the remote pads with temp and time on them.

The old HuffnGrunt Herniamatic
Whatever Sears sells.
One of my doors has a Craftsman 1/2 hp screw drive thats used everyday for 30+ years. Still works great.
Other door has a newer Craftsman 1/2 hp belt drive. The older Craftsman didnt have digital for the home link so we bought a newer mode about 15 years ago and its still works great.
Not crazy about the belt drive though, seem more jumpy going down than the screw drive.
Put the older 30+ year old analog on the garage door in the shed. Still working fine.

It doesn't look like I will have enough space on either side of the garage doors for a wall-mount opener. The existing opener is a screw drive and the third bay doesn't have an opener.
Hmm.

:yesnod:, unfortunately. It would be cool to not have the motor and stuff overhead.
Unless the contractor tells me there really is room, I'm likely going with two of these:
