The radial engines are definitely a work of art. Not nearly as loud as I remembered though. I love hearing those suckers fire up. It was a great experience. Now I need a ride!

I was stationed at NAS Alameda in 65 and we had an AD squadron the next hanger over. Every time those 3350s fired up you could feel it. The blup-blup sound they made at idle was one of the coolest sounds ever. Even better was when they were at full power on the cat waiting to launch. I swear the air shook.
