a "good ole car"? I have a 67 SB with 327/300, auto, PS, factory side pipes, radio, and that's all. Carpet is original, seats have been replaced, door panels are original, one repaint, never off the frame, 47K miles.

Today I cranked it for the first time in 3 months. It fired right up and went into a smooth idle. It shifted into gear with no hesitation, and off we went. Those side pipes are sheer music! The engine never missed a beat, and no carbon blew out the pipes when I opened her up.

This car is tight and has no rattles, everything works, it's dependable, and I never have any trouble with her. (I'm knocking on wood with each word I type...) The tightness I attribute to never being off the frame.

Do you have a good ole girl like mine? Unlike my BB 67, which may or may not crank, rattles, and I wouldn't drive it a mile without praying. It's rare and pretty, though....

Really? I take it you've tried. If I ever get that Triumph TR-6 I'm after, I know you'll fit into it. The leg room extends into the next County...like Cindy Crawford's legs....

Yup. Tried siting in a cherry 65 (black) years ago. No go. Knees and steering wheel have a slight conflict.

Just a bummer. If I ever had the coin to get one, I couldn't drive it. So why bother dreaming?

The stock steering wheel on a 63 is huge. I still have the stock wheel, but replaced it with an after market (looks the same, but smaller diameter). Makes it a lot easier to get in and out of. But, with the seat all the way back, anyone that is much over 6' tall may be uncomfortable.

Hmmm....

Something to keep in mind. It's a race. Can I save/earn enough $$$$ before I run out of quality time?

They're practically giving them away now. I've seen many C2s sell in the $30K-$40K range. These same cars would've brought $10K-$30K more a few years ago.

Not a second gen corvette, but my Mini falls into that category.

No I would be in trouble if I drove it through a gun fight. I have to ride with my elbow out the window because I don't really fit in it.

I can't fit in the split window coupe, which is my all time dream car. That's the only car I truly want.

However, I've been told that the '67 has much more interior room, including legroom than the 63-66 models. Don't know if that's true or not.

While on the subject, there is not enough legroom in the C7 for me. :(

As for the OP, my '76 hasn't let me down once, in the two years I've had it.

My 63 has never left me stranded. For many years, I always carried a set of points and condensor with me at all times. I later switched it to electronic ignition. When I first got it, it had a dual point distributor, which gave me some problems....but never stranded. Mine is a 327, 300hp car.

My 91 ZR-1 has taken me on three 1000 mile round trips across the Mojave with no issues. it's better with a few rock chip and some road grime than it ever was as a low mile collector. Gonna probably hit 40k with her in 2014.

6'5" in my '72 vert, and there is NOTHING stock about my car, nothing,

not the frame, suspension, engine, fuel, trans, cooling, fans, interior, seating, hood, tail lights, head lights, grill, coves, wheels/tires, exhaust, induction, a/c, trans cooling, even the hood opens the opposite way from a stock vette....

Not true, but you could get a factory tilt wheel 66-67. You might be able to mod a coupe to fit you though. I can't remember how much room is behind the seats before you hit the storage area floor pan kick up.

I enjoyed turning a wrench on my '65 and '66. I built them to be reliable. I never did, but had some friends that would drive there BB midyears from GA. to Carlisle, every year. The only problem I ever had, and it is common to midyears, was the wiring harness wiggled loose from the fuse panel. I got it connected well enough to get me back home.

I've been lusting for a '56 or '57. The BIG difference with a solid axle is the floor pan is on top of the frame. So, it is less comfortable than a midyear, where they dropped it down between the frame rails.

My 63 is a good ol car. Bought it in 1969. Broke a rocker arm stud the other day but after I get it fixed, some friends are gonna help get it tuned right and it will be great. Waaayyy lots of memories with that car. I was 24 when I bought it.

I I was as tall as you and had an early model vette, I would seriously consider a bomber seat, set real low and back as far as it would go.

Certainly a unique vette. I like the style. I would cut a coil out of the front springs.
