"The Rolling Chair" from the first episode got me right in the ribs, laughed so hard I ached... haven't watched it since then because I'm a bit concerned the Parkinson's jokes will be all the show has...

I'm trying to watch this show on NBC.com, but just can't get into it. Part of the problem, I think, is that NBC.com inserts a crap ton of commercials in the middle of a scene.

Besides the commercial, the show hasn't yet decided what it's trying to be. Instead of being a comedy it seems to want to show what a saint Fox is. On the other hand, it's trying to act a little like Modern Family. Both are fail premises. If it keeps on like this, it's going to have a very short run.

The chick that played Marie in Breaking Bad plays MJF's wife; sad to see she went from one of the best shows ever on TV to...this.

Probably for ten times the money.
Probably for ten times the money.
She came from a huge, Emmy winning show, she's probably making ten times what he is.

I like MJF, his work in the Back To the Future Franchise, and Spin City was great. Its painful to watch him struggle through scenes, he just cant be still, or control his hea,d eyes, face, hands, etc....he is trying so damn hard and his body wont cooperate, such a waste of talent. They had to use the parkinsons as a plot device in the show, its too obvious in all scenes....but they embrace it, and use it...I just hope they dont overuse it. The black guy that is the lawyer in "SUITS" is hilarious though...

I doubt it. Remember, it is called The Michael J Fox Show. He's been a major star for decades.

My dad had parkinsons, and he didn't twitch at all like MJF. Then again, since his repertoire was holding his junk, farting, and dirty jokes, I doubt he'd have lasted more than 2 or 3 seasons in his own show :funny:

Probably right. But I've read the reviews, I hope he he doesn't have a lot of his own money invested in it.

I have to admit so far I'm enjoying this new series. I only wish MJF would slow his dialog down just a bit. Not sure if it's the Parkinson's or what, but he speaks so fast sometimes he slurs his speech.

Oh and just so I can get another ticket on the bus to hell....

Its the parkinsons, lady down the road has it and her speech slurs some as well, and her problem is the opposite..she speaks slower, and so soft you can barely hear her. PArkinsons is some nasty stuff, you just..cant control your motor functions. Best example ive seen was on ER or House..one or the other, young blakc doctor did a portrayal of it, and at times..he would just be standing there totally still in an emergency..couldnt make his legs move.

I'm betting the network does. They'll give it more time than other shows if it doesn't do well. Then they'll move it to a sweet time slot to gain ratings if they need to. A lot of great shows, like Seinfeld and Barney Miller didn't do well at first and had to sort themselves out and decide which characters to develop.

The first couple of years of Sienfeld sucked ass.

Barney Miller had a great cast of characters, almost as diverse as Taxi.

Yes they did, but it took them a few episodes to realize it. The original concept of that show was to be about the home life of a police Captain. They realized in a few episodes that the people at work were funnier than what goes on at home. The wife and daughter characters all but vanished very quickly. It was the greatest ensemble comedy show of it's time. It also lent itself well to introducing new characters when others left the show.
