Opinion.

First off, it was an automatic, so that was an instant negative. That being said, it did have the paddle shifters, which are vastly different than the Corvette. On Corvette, both rears are downshift and both fronts are upshift. Now they are left is down and right is up. This is just fine for road racing, but horrible for autocross. Our turns are so much tighter, and if you are a shuffle steerer, it's very difficult to upshift when you need to if you're not going straight.

Power:

With 580 HP, this car is a HOOT! On a road course once again, it would be fun, even with the automatic. In autocross, the lack of linear power delivery is a major ugly.

Weight:

4,120#'s. Enough said.

Visibility:
Big hood and HUGE A-pilar. Very hard to see out of.

Over all opinion:
Extremely fun to drive. If someone bought me one (in manual), I'd likely keep it. Seats are way better than the C6 Corvette, at least mine. I know the later ones were better.

Fun car...yes. Autocross car....absolutely NO. I can't wait to try the Z28. I think that's going to be an entirely different story.

Will post a video from it a bit later. Currently uploading videos and changing tires. Today was fun. I got to drive so many students cars today. First time i took the Z06 back to the track in 3 months and it was like Disney Land. Everyone wanted a ride in my car and for me to drive their cars. I must have taken 20 laps in students cars today. BMW 335i, Porsche 911, C5 Corvette Z06 with heads/cams and supercharger. (660 to the wheels) and a few other interesting ones.

Oh yeah, took one lap in Marcus' Z06, beat him by 8/10ths :D

:hurray:

I drove one that is a Tonawanda Engine Plant, DM's car.
It was fun to tear up the road with someone else's toy, who didn't care how hard that I beat it. It was a 6 speed too...:seasix:

Have not heard the details as to who was driving, or any other details into the case, but have heard from Rad. No further details as to who was behind the wheel or more on the events of that night.

We talking about the Ferrari? If so, I still have no clue. It's quite possible he was not. His wife is the second name named being represented by the attorney on record. Still, no clue. Prayers that it wasn't Rad.

I am sort of not getting the whole Z/28 thing. It is going to cost more than the ZL1, less hp, and in reality, they only shaved like a 100 lbs off the damn thing. So, what is the point other than you get Z/28 emblems and a car with less performance? I suppose I'm still stuck on my first gen Camaro, which of course unless I put countless thousands of dollars in the suspension to make it handle, is a much cooler car. For the money, I would buy a Corvette every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

When the Z/28 concept came out, the rumors were more like 300 pounds with the LS7. THAT would have been great. 100 pounds is still a 4,000 pound car, so that sucks. :(

As far as liner power goes, the LS7 is much more useful, but that weight is still the killer.

Mustangs are still going to rip it out of the frame. With minimal effort, supercharging the 5.0 liters can get you up past 700 rwhp in short order. I mean hell, new injectors, pump, supercharger, computer flash, exhaust, and you are in. I really feel like Chevy is completely overpricing the Camaros and it is going to end up biting them in the ass. I've driven a SS with a manual, and it felt like a brick. The new Stangs I've driven felt like the were never gonna quit diggin'.

When I get mine, I'll tear it all apart, and start drilling holes to remove material. Should be able to lighten it up by a few hundred pounds.

Mark Stielow is a freakin' automotive genius. My car is set up no where like that, but I did use his Detroit Speed sub frame connectors. I will be going to VA soon to retrieve my car from the body shop where it has been since December. Except for a few interior trim pieces, it is done. Pics will be posted when I get it back. I'm hoping the decision to take it from driver quality to show quality was not a bad one on my part.

Cool car! I'm not opposed to paddles anymore. I don't know if I'd say they allow for heightened concentration, but definitely a different kind of concentration.

Not to go off on a tangent, but did I miss a topic?

Oddly low. Then, the website doesn't let you build your own.

I still can't afford a $56k car.

Why on earth would anyone buy that car with an auto transmission?
1. Drag racing (the only legitimate reason).
2. Waxer mentality.

I'll bet 95%+ of those sold with auto fall in category 2.
