View Full Version : If money were no object -
and you could choose anywhere in the world to live, where would it be?
I have always wanted to move to Belize or Costa Rica. But I've also had dreams of living up on a hill, out in the middle of nowhere w/ a lot of land somewhere like Wyoming. I also think it would be pretty cool to live in one of those $10mil penthouses in NYC, but I couldn't do that for long I'm sure.
All I know is that I'm starting to hate the DFW area more and more every year but we really can't move anywhere far until Brian's son is at least 18 - we've got a little over 5 years to decide.
So what is your dream location?

I would move back to Italy where I used to call home as a kid where I was raised.

It's hard for me to grasp "if money were no object!"
However, I'd like to be close to everything (like I am now) with a big lot for the dogs (have that covered ok now, too) but with lots and lots of garage space, including a lift!!!!
And this place would not be anywhere that it's cold all winter.

If money were no object, I would have my own private island in the south pacific.

If I was single I'd probably also have my own penthouse above an exclusive brothel.
Right where I am.
Nice sized house, separate guest house, 3-1/2 car garage, 40x60 wood shop, all on 15+ acres, but still only 20 min from downtown.
House for sale up the road. :).

I'm trying to figure out where I would like to move right now but unfortunately money is an object.

I'd have a summer residence in Switzerland and a Winter Home in Tahiti.

Do you dive? These are PRIME locations to live for divers!
My dream location? Dunno. I could design one: Underwater sights like WA, weather like Ventura, personal freedoms like AZ.
I'll keep looking!

Summer home in Canada on a lake for the fishing and winter someplace warm.
New Zealand. Always wanted to go there and I think it would be a great place to live.

Was for us too. Sold our house in MD and bought this one in NM for about 10% more.

I'm sure I would if I lived on the ocean. I'm leaning towards somewhere warm where I can just lay on the beach all day and fry myself in the sun, kind of like roasting a chicken. :D
*** Disclaimer - My husband isn't a baller and I'm certainly no super model wife. Money IS an object but I think it's healthy to dream ***
Existing nations? Easy, the USA. No other Country can match our freedoms. Most of Western Europe is covered by a false facade of freedom. No right to keep and bear arms, no true right to free speech and freedom of religion.
Probably build a nice place somewhere like Iowa, and look at corn fields and endless horizons every day.
BUT.... you said money is no object. I'd BUY an Island from the U.S. government and start my own country and live there.

Probably the Florida Keys, plenty of room to keep my boats -- a few airports for the planes. and if I get bored i'm still connected to the US & can go for a drive.
I'd really much prefer Hawaii but i'd go stir crazy in a heart beat.
With Eastern Tennessee a very close second.
I'm close, but I'd prefer to live on Maui.

I'd live in the same area with a larger house on more land.
Both of our families are in the area. We wouldn't want to move away.
Wyoming in the summers and Eastern TN in the winter. Head south right before the temps drop below 20.
Indiana if I could get 1000 acres for myself.

San Juan Islands, with a second place in the Bavarian or Austrian Alps.
I would own a very large Yatch and a few long range jets and become a traveler of the world. Live, Love Laugh and get to know people in an area then move on. Maybe go back maybe not.

I'd have houses in Paris, Germany, Kelowna and the South of France.

I'd buy an island (min 20 acres) in the Caribbean and build a compound that could accommodate up to a dozen guests. There would also be a slip large enough to dock a 55' cruiser. It would also need to be within a couple hours of the nearest island with civilization.
I'm close, but I'd prefer to live on Maui.
:iagree: but probably only temporarily - I don't think I could live on any of the islands for an extended period of time - but never tried it - so who knows.
Really enjoy Northern CA - but would probably like to live on a golf course (or have my own if $ was no object) or on a lake - a private one would be really good. :hurray:

Winter home on Maui and summer home right around here.
:iagree:
The Crystal Coast area of North Carolina. Morehead City, Swansboro, Beaufort, Emerald Isle, Atlantic Beach. Four beautiful seasons, the oceans and beaches... a nice fishing/sporting boat or two, a Corvette, and I'm good.

If money was no object, the answer would not be a single place. It would be many places that I would live.
...although I would probably call the Toterhome that I drove from race track to race track "home".
