Two weeks after he returned from the Westminster Kennel Club show in NYC, he ruptured a disc in his back. The Vet said there wasn't a very good chance he'd walk again due to nerve damage. Very common with this injury and Dachshunds.

$5000.00 (That one put the hurt on my savings, believe me) and a whole lot of therapy later? Here he is. We were lucky. We identified the problem very early and didn't wait and see if he got better. We took him to the Vet right away. For four weeks we wrapped a towel under his belly and supported his rear when he walked. He was on strict crate rest all other times.

He's 10 now and he has his days where he moves a little slower than he used to. But he's in great health all things considered.

Seriously, though, good for you for ponying up and I'm glad it worked out, for both.
