Accepting the call...

Peeps, after years of study and prayerful guidance, I'm taking my first step into the larger world of faith today.

I have an interview at 4:30 p.m. today with the Church Growth International of the Americas (CGIA) Presbytery Board.

Once I complete the interview process, I'll be ordained as a pastor on Sept. 17 during a ceremony at 6:30 p.m. at Evangel World Prayer Center in Louisville, Ky.

My church offered me a position as co-leader of a men's ministry group called "Champions of Honor" and I began Sunday. I get to make a real difference in the lives of men young and old alike and I'm so excited about this next step of faith in my life.

Everyone who knows me can testify the Lord has been moving in my life in a mighty way over the last few decades. When God speaks, you know it.

It was prophesied by both my older brother (who is also an ordained minister) and my mother-in-law (now deceased) that I would someday be a clergyman, but I didn't believe it then.

Nonetheless, from "pass the J" to Pastor J, God has gradually revealed His plan and purpose for my life as He picked me up, cleaned me up and put my feet on solid ground. His love is ceaseless and amazing. The more I read, pray and meditate on the Word, the more I want to. I've got to have a higher revelation. He's my magnificent obsession!

So please pray for me, Theresa and our family as I answer the call and humbly submit to the Holy Spirit's guidance. And, of course, keep your prayer requests and petitions coming!

I'm still reeling, stilll trying to process it all. This much is certain. I've taken my first step into a larger world of faith and I've trampled the head of Satan for some long-awaited payback!
