I've been playing with this for the last week...

AR.Drone 2.0. Parrot new wi-fi quadricopter - AR.Drone.com - HD Camera - Parrot (http://ardrone2.parrot.com)

AR Parrot Drone - YouTube

Anyone else have one? Its obvious why they have privacy warnings all over it... :D

serious fun toy...

Enjoy it now, because attaching a camera to an R/C aircraft will someday be a felony. Mark my words.

I wouldn't doubt it, but until then this "toy" is legal and Awesome! Controls are intuitive and GPS so, not much input is needed to put it where you want it. there are options to program GPS coordinates, it'll fly to them, you can pan around with the camera then tell it "home" and it comes back to the starting point... crazy!

the only drawback I have so far is the battery life, about 8mins per charge per battery...

How else are you supposed to guide the optional Sidewinder missile?

Yep, I have one. Haven't cracked it out in awhile. Unfortunately, I'm too busy today with work, so it'll have to wait.

It is definitely fun. :seasix:

Once you get the nads for it, flying without the foam hull will increase flight time by 3-4 minutes.

Fixed.

I wouldn't want to see my neighbors anyhow. :puke:

What kind of total flight time were you seeing?

I believe about 13-15 minutes. I just attempted to go give it a try, but the battery is completely dead. Once it's charged, I'll give it a shot and let you know.

I've got the 1.0 version. Definitely a blast. I need to get it back out.

For the 2.0 version you can get a high density battery that they say gives 36 minutes of flight time.

:cert:

That's my only beef with it, a few minutes flight time but it takes 1 1/2hrs to charge! I initially bought a spare battery but I can see some of the X2 batteries in my future... :seasix:

A solid 30 minutes of flight time would be enough to make it worthwhile.

The Parrot is OK for the price but this is the shit:

Gimbal:
http://www.dji.com/wp-content/themes/dji/store/products/gallery/zen_h32d/_MG_4674.jpg

Using the GoPro gives way better video and the overall stabilization is much better. Plus, now DJI has a motorized gimbal that automatically corrects camera vibration and movement using the same data the copter uses to stabilize.

They run about $600 plus cost of GoPro. Gimbal is about $150.

Lots of hotties out walking and jogging in my neighborhood but there isn't enough privacy (even without drones) for the aforementioned hotties to sunbathe au natural.

:( Well, at least get video of them jogging so we can see the natural bounce of things :D

Full charge, just finished test...11 minutes 30 seconds from take off till battery failure, with soft landing. :seasix:

Little less than I remember, but more than the OP's time. No foam hull and no body work. Just the device.

Does that seem a little light for as long as it takes to charge?

Charge time to flight time is a joke. ;)

It certainly promotes having multiple batteries, especially the high capacity ones.

I have one word for these toys....Pull!

If I see one in my backyard, the operator better be able to GTFO quicker than I can reach one of my shotguns. Play with your toys on your own property
