I'm not sure how we would do this, but if we could pull it off, it would be pretty cool.

What if I recorded a video of a bed track of a simple blues progression, then uploaded it here. Then, those of you with guitar skillz could download, add a track (rhythm or lead) and upload that.

We could keep building tracks like we were jamming together.

I know how I'd do it - but I have the video equipment.

How would you download and overdub another part? I would guess it would be split screen.

???

I'd be most interested in this. :yesnod:

I can't help much with the technical side of it. I so have a simple 4 track recorder however.

One way would be to incorporate clicks at the beginning that we could sync up. We would each record a video with the track in headphones, then I could edit together.

I'd do the first track direct (instead of using a mic) to keep it clean. Or I could just use Garageband and we could start with a track of drums and bass.

I'm not a rock player - I figure blues is sort of a universal language that would allow improv.

I'm in, but all I have for recording is my video camera unless I can figure out how to hook up my SM57 to my laptop.

Sounds cool, too bad I am not great at the drums I attempt to play.

We should just try it. :seasix:

If it was BPM based like suggested and everyone then did a part with whatever beats per minute on a you tube video using their cell phone video,,, i phone whatever, someone with some skills could compile and edit those into a video/song. :confused5: I think :D

Ok, go!

You lay down a drum/bass track, do a lead, and then leave two spots for leads. Thomas and I will fill the last two spots. I think anything more than a triple recording is going to lose sound quality somewhat exponentionally since it is going to be mono x 3. I am not that up on current tech. Can you create a sound file I can record over and thern save/send that file to someone?

Our ex-keyboard player has some musician buddies scattered all over the US and they are doing an entire CD via email and digital recording equipment.

It is possible. I can't play anything but the radio, but I can sing enough to get by.

That would be a fun idea. Not sure if my playing is up to the task. :yesnod:
