View Full Version : What is Hawai'i like this time of year?
In the last couple of days, I've received a couple of emails from recruiters, wanting to know if I'd be interested in a short term project in Honolulu.
Is surfing difficult?

it better be for some major $$$ unless they are putting you on expenses. Gasoline on the big Island a few weeks back was $4.75 a gallon. Food it was over the top from what we pay. We ate at a Romano’s Macaroni Grill and plain Jane Fettuccini Alfaro was $19. Here on the main land it’s $11

It's great there anytime of year Al, go if you get the chance. Yes surfing is hard to get the hang of...takes more than a few days for sure. It's fun to ride it in sitting on it too though.

Not much surf this time of year. The North Shore gets cranked up in Jan and Feb.
Drop me an IM if you need specific info on Oahu. :seasix:
Feckin awesome...just like any other time of the year.

I have never been there, but my Dad always told me it was the most beautiful place on the planet.
Most people pay big bucks to go there for just a week or two.
You are going to get paid to go there? and your bags are not packed yet??? :island14:

I visited Oahu for a week and Kauai for week, and both islands are beautiful.
Alas, I won't be trying for this gig. My current project, so I'm told, will be funded for '14, which means I don't need to look for another job right now. If the project was going to be unfunded, then this Hawai'i gig would have my full attention.

It's beautiful this time of year. Kids are all back in school, too.
Surfing is easy, as long as you have at least some degree of coordination. Awesome in Hawaii.

Waves are small this time of year, for Hawaii. Eat where the locals eat, and abuse the rental.. rent a place on the north shore and experience a better Hawaii than the metro downtown Waikiki.

If I were to go, there's someone else that I'd be taking. :)
When I was consulting, one of our clients was Hawaiian Airlines but I didn't get to go there. They sent me to Colorado instead.
